The Voyage Adventures in Character

“Kindness”

Hi Parents! We had a great first week on The Voyage learning all about responsi-

bility. We hope that you are seeing your children start to make responsible

choices at home. As a reminder, here’s our anchor: “Responsibility is making

good choices and owning behavior.” We have been pleased to see students

working hard on their choices.

Here’s this week’s action point: “Responsibility is being trusted with important

jobs.” The goal is that children take seriously jobs they have been given. Please

partner with us, and remind your children how important it is to be trusted as

responsible people! Thank you for supporting us. We are so glad to be on The

Voyage with you!

Don’t forget to take a look at the Anchor Card for discussion starters and a family

activity!

Parents: Remember to read to your child

or have your child read to you at least

20-30 minutes a night. Literacy is so im-

portant for our children,

If a student arrives at school after 7:30 a.m., he/she must sign-in in the main office with a parent/guardian prior to going to class. The student will receive an “Admit to Class” slip. It is suggested that teachers keep the “Admit to Class” slips in a folder until the end of the school year in order to further document student tardiness to class. All late arrivals are unexcused until verified with the “Student Sign-In” book located in the main office.

Teachers will notify parent/guardian when a student accumulates a second (2nd) unexcused tardy. Teachers are responsible for communicating the following related to a student’s unexcused tardiness:

1st time: Warn the child

2nd time: Send an email to parents – copied to Principal Designee

3rd time: Phone call home

4th time: Administrative referral and parent contact from the Principal

5th time: Referral to Principal who will contact parent and set up a conference.
