Important Message to All New Users of the Piezo Surgery Ultrasonic System

Dear Doctors:

Congratulations on your new purchase of the PiezoART Piezo Surgery Ultrasonic System. We are certain that the investment you made into the new system will not only exceed your expectations, but also allow you to incorporate a lot of dental surgery techniques on a reliable and economic system that will last for a long time. In order for the system to be used safely and appropriately, we strongly recommend for all new and current users to take the following steps before their initial use:

1. Upon unpacking the item, refer to the enclosed user manual for all the warning, safety, set up and operating procedures

2. Before using the system, do a physical count of all the items including all the necessary parts and accessories needed and enclosed with the system as specified within the user manual.

3. Only properly trained personnel are strongly recommended to use the system. A lot of dental procedures and techniques can be incorporated for use with the system, so it is the user’s due diligence to make sure he or she including his or her staff has the proper training to operate the system.

4. All warranty items and liabilities are void if system has been mishandled, misused for its intended purposes, replacement of OEM or aftermarket parts, and system not serviced by the manufacturer’s authorized and trained technicians.

5. Report any missing parts and accessories, damages, defectiveness, or malfunctions of the system to your authorized dealers where the system was purchased from or directly to the manufacturer.

6. Use of common sense is strongly encouraged when it comes to unavoidable circumstances.

By following the steps above, we can all be certain that all the necessary safety precautions have been taken to prevent any harm not only to the users, but more importantly, to the patients.

CARE TIPS

STERILIZATION REMINDERS:

• SWITCH OFF THE UNIT

• The casing of the unit is not protected against the penetration of liquids. DO NOT spray liquids directly onto the surface of the casing of the Unit.

• The unit CANNOT be sterilized

• Carry out sterilization using only a STEAM autoclave

• Handpiece and cord CANNOT be disconnected

• Do NOT sterilize the hand-piece with any tip screwed into it

• The ELECTRICAL CONTACTS of the connector of the hand-piece cord must be DRY

• After completing sterilization cycle, allow the hand-piece to DRY COMPLETELY before using it

• Before connecting the cord, make sure that the ELECTRICAL CONTACTS ARE PERFECTLY DRY. If necessary, dry them with an air syringe

• After surgery, remove any tips left on the hand-piece after surgery and use the flush function to completely remove any saleen or distilled water left in the hand-piece.

• Wipe down any excess liquids that may be left on the unit or the hand-piece.

WARNINGS:

• Diamond Coated InstrumentsWhen the diamond chips wear out a reduction in cutting capacity and a consequent increase in temperature may occur. Use these instruments for a maximum of ten applications

• Cutting InstrumentsWhen the nitriding wears out the cutting edge loses efficiency and a re-shaping is unadvised due to its limited life-span

• Membrane SeparatorsFor greater life-span it is recommended to use it on low power

High power can be useful if there are residual bony edges to be removed

WARNING: AFTER USE, ALWAYS STERILIZE THE ABOVE COMPONENTS IN THE AUTOCLAVE AT 134°C (273°F) FOR AT LEAST 4 MINUTES OR AT 121°C (249°F) FOR AT LEAST 16 MINUTES. ALL THE STAGES OF STERILIZATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY THE OPERATOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANSI/AAMI ST:42:1998. COOL TO ROOM TERMPERATURE BEFORE USE.

Ridge Expansion Technique

-BM-HB1 – (Flat Scraper) Tip is to flatten or plateau the ridge before the actual Osteotomy is created, you can also harvest cortical bone chips at the same time depending on the thickness of the ridge. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

-BM-RS1 – (5 Point Tooth Saw) Saw for the actual Osteotomy during the ridge expansion. Use tip in a back and forth, push and pull motion to create Osteotomy. 9mm in depth. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

-BM-RS1 – (5 Point Tooth Saw) this will also be used for vertical releasing of Osteotomy if necessary in the ridge expansion. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER SELECT HAMMER FUNCTION (SAFE CUT) AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

-BM-OT4 – (Cylinder with Hemisphere Tip) Osteotomy for final preparation of the implant site (1-2mm) near delicate anatomic structures (lower alveolar nerve, sinus membrane) SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

-BM-HB2 – (Frying Pan) Tip to be used once the implants are placed to harvest cortical bone chips to mix with grafting material. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

Lateral Wall Sinus Lift

-BM-HB2 – (Frying Pan) Tip to be used to thin the bone directly over the sinus membrane. The doctor could either create an outline of the sinus or remove the entire cortical bone area over the membrane with the BM-RS1 is the most important tip in sinus lift surgery, the doctor must thin the bone paper thin over the membrane, SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

BM-OT1 or OT5 – (Diamond Coated Scalpel) once the outline of the sinus window is created; the BM-OT1 will be used to create your actual Osteotomy. The tip will cut only thin bone, so it is important that the first step is entirely complete. Tip will cut and smooth the membrane at the same time. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 1-3 IRRIGATION

BM-SL01 – (Trumpet) Compressor to begin sinus membrane separation after the access Osteotomy is created. Place the tip on the membrane using the flat surface of the tip. SET PIEZOART TO 14 POWER AND 2 OR 3 IRRIGATION

Osteotome Sinus Lift

-BM-EX01, BM-EX01R, BM-EX01L – (Extraction Tips Long Thin Scalpels) Used for the extractions of the teeth along the PDL. These tips will allow for socket preservation in sinus lift surgery and any other extraction surgery. SET PIEZOART TO 22-26 POWER AND 4-6 IRRIGATION

-BM-IM1 – (Two Different Tips, Doctor’s Preference) First you’ll need to drill up until 1mm of cortical bone is remaining to the base of the sinus floor. The final 1mm of the cortical bone will be removed using the BM-IM1 in an intermittent tapping technique (SAFE CUT FUNCTION). Gently use the diamond coated BM-IM1 until you have access to the sinus membrane and then feed your graft material into the Osteotomy which will raise the sinus floor. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 3-5 IRRIGATION

Extractions

-BM-EX01, BM-EX01R, BM-EX01L – (Extraction Tips Long Thin Scalpels) Used for the extractions of teeth along the PDL. These tips will allow for socket preservation in sinus lift surgery and any other extraction surgery. SET PIEZOART TO 22-26 POWER AND 4-6 IRRIGATION

Others

-BM-RS1 – (Garden Hoe) Tip will be used to expose the apex of the root. Used in a back action motion to remove bone and harvest cortical bone chips of the root surface. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 2-4 IRRIGATION

-BM-PS2 – (Scaler or Ultra Thin Osteotome) When the root is exposed, use the PS2 to define the entire apex and get the necessary separation from the surrounding cortical bone. SET PIEZOART TO PERIO MODE, 10-14 POWER, AND 1-3 IRRIGATION

-BM-EX01 – (Extraction Tip) Use tip to section / remove the apex of the root. Use tip in a back and forth push pull motion to create Osteotomy. SET PIEZOART TO 24-28 POWER AND 2-4 IRRIGATION

-BM-EN1 or BM-EN2 – (Endo Tips) Endo tips are used once the apex of the root is removed and you have access to the root canal. SET PIEZOART TO ENDO FUNCTION, 22-26 POWER, AND 2-4 IRRIGATION
