What is the sport of XC? HS distance-running sport involving venturing
across a variety of surfaces and throughout the
community that we live in. Races consist of three-
mile or 5k courses that take place both locally in
parks, schools, and elsewhere in the state/nation.
It is a grueling and challenging sport that truly
tests the body both mentally and physically.
How to prepare for the
sport of running?
Training can and will be done in a variety of ways.
Running, lifting weights, core exercises, dynamic
drills, cross training, and hill training to name a
few. Practice is held at least six days a week and
sometimes even twice a day for varsity level dis-
tance runners. We practice for approximately two
or three hours a day. Monday through Saturday
when in season and Mon-Fri in off season.
Multi-sport Athletes We work with Multi-sport athletes well as we have
great relationships with coaches on campus. This
allows athletes to do multiple sports with no pres-
sure to give up one over another. We also work
well with club sport athletes as well in some cases
creating individualized training plans or modifying
workouts. Our 1st period class allows for more
rest between practices as well. So don’t think you
can’t do one because of the other.
All we ask is that you be at a few of our major
races on a Saturday and all league races during
the week to show commitment to the team. When
it comes to CIF and if you are a part of the team
we expect you to be there for your teammates. To
compete or as an alternate.
Our Accomplishments We boast one of the most successful programs
at ERHS with the second most titles behind our
Track Program. Also one of the best in the Inland
Empire and CIF Southern Section. The boys
have been nationally ranked the last two seasons
and the girls have been ranked in the top 10 in
Riv. County the last 4 years.
