SEASON 2013/2014 OPEN DAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2013
A warm welcome to all of our new and existing members to another season of nippers. We had a number of very successful registration days throughout August and September, so thank you for so many people registering early this year. We have now reached over 400 nippers, this is a fantastic commitment from all parents, carers and volunteers to teach our kids the skills to be safe at the beach which could lead to becoming our lifesavers of the future. Join in the fun and support your club.
COOLANGATTA GOLD
Congratulations to Gary Wilson, Rick Boylan, Dave Bishop, Jenny Darwin and Christine Bishop for their results in this year’s Coolangatta Gold. This
event is regarded as the toughest test of endurance on the Surf Life Saving Calendar and takes months of training just to get to the starting

It was another very successful night for our annual Ladies Night on Friday 1st November. We have exceeded last year’s numbers with 125 ladies in attendance. Money raised on the night has helped us to make a donation to Ovarian Cancer Research. Thank you to Nicole and Skye for their hard work and dedication to making this another fabulous night for the ladies. Thanks also to our Bar men for the night and Harold and his music partner for the Entertainment. See you all next year.

EDUCATION TRAINING TALES Welcome aboard for the 2013/14 Season to Jarryd Edmonds, who has taken over from Bob Powell as our Chief Training Officer. A big thank you to Bob for all his efforts over the years in the training department! I am sure he will still be pitching in wherever he can! Good luck to all of our Bronze Medallion participants who are on the current course, we look forward to seeing you on Patrols. The next Bronze Course will be run in the new year.

SIPS ON SUNDAY
During the Nipper Season we have sips every Sunday afternoon upstairs on the balcony, where you can enjoy a drink with friends and take in the view. We have a roster system (see below) where you can help out in the kitchen to prepare the wonderful meals on offer at family friendly prices.

5TH ANNUAL UMINA SLSC GOLF DAY
SPRINGS GOLF CLUB – FRIDAY 17TH JAN 2014
TEE OFF AT 12.30PM.
We are pleased to announce the Umina SLSC Golf Day will be held at the Springs Golf Club on Friday 17th January 2014. The cost will be $80 per head. Your entry fee includes your round of golf in an electric cart and lunch at the course. There will be prizes for the winning groups, closest to the pins and longest drives. After the Game we will meet back at the Surf Club for the presentation. Full bar services will be available at the Surf Club. BBQ Dinner will be supplied. We are also looking for Hole Sponsors. For $400 you receive a round of golf for 4 people in an electric golf cart, your company name displayed on a selected hole and your logo displayed at the presentation. There will be a spreadsheet outside the office at the Surf Club to write your name down. Payment up front, we will not be collecting any money on the day. Presents are purchased by parents for their own children with a value of $5-$15.
Label with child’s name and age group then leave upstairs in supplied bags ready for Santa.
