For the glass load resistance determination,

Practice E1300 shall be used. The apparatus

to be used and the procedures and

techniques to select and apply a proof load

to specimens of glass are described in this

method to establish the quantity of the

specimens of glass to be tested and to

statistically evaluate the breakage

probability.

ASTM C158 - 02(2012)

The modulus of bending of glass and glass-

ceramics rupture determination is covered

in this test method. These test methods are

appropriate to pre-stressed and annealed

glasses and glass-ceramics existing in

different forms.

Test methods that can be used as

alternatives are described; the test method

to be used shall be known by the material

representative specimens geometric

characteristics and by the purpose of the

test, as well. Test Method A and B are tests

for flat glass modulus of rupture and for

glass and glass-ceramics modulus of

rupture, respectively.

ASTM E1300

In addition to ASTM methods, this practice

describes and explains procedures to know the

load resistance of particular glass types which

includes glass types combinations used in a unit of

sealed insulating glass and exposed to a lateral

load that is consistent of either a short or long

duration, for a specified breakage probability.

This practice is applicable to sloped and

vertical glazing in buildings for which the

design loads specified consist of snow

load, wind load and self-weight with a
