Points to ponder… Isn’t it strange that we are prepared to copy our unveiled friends

but we feel shy to copy the wives of the Prophet (peace be uponhim)- The mothers of the believers??

Just as prized possessions are wrapped and covered against evilsand things which spoil it,

A true Muslimah is more valuable than perishable possessions, she covers herself in order to remain pure and distant from themolestation perpetrated by man.

Hijab is an honor and protection for women as well as a symbol of true freedom for her body from the hands and eyes of aggressorsand molesters

The heat of Hell would be hotter than the heat one feels here?

Surah An-Noor

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze

and guard their private parts and not expose

their adornment except that which of; (must

ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw

their veils over their Juyubihinna.”

[Qur’an, 24:31]

Juyubhinna in Arabic language means coveringthe body including the neck and the bosoms.

“O prophet tell your wives, your daughters,

and the women of the believers to draw their

veils over their bodies. That is more suitable

that they will be known (as a chaste believing

woman) and not molested…” [Qur’an 33:59]

In this verse Allah has made the adherence to

Hijab a manifestation of chastity, modesty, and

purity

It is in this Ayah that it has been commandedto wear a abaya or burqa over your bodies

Surah Al- Ahzab

Allah states further in this Ayah:

"... And let them not stamp their feet so as toreveal what they hide of their adornments "

The women in the time of the Prophet(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) wore ankletswhich could be employed to attract attention bystamping their feet, thereby, making the anklets

tinkle. This practice is not only forbidden by Allah,

but shows that the legs and ankles are to becovered as well.

Surah Al- Ahzab

“And when you ask them (i.e. the Prophet’s wives)

for something, ask them from behind a partition.

That is pure for your hearts and their hearts.”

[Qur’an 33:53]

Hijab Preserves the purity of women

When the adornments Allah has favored a woman

with are screened, there is a far less possibility of

sinful actions leading to promiscuity and

transgression. Thus Hijab cuts off ill thoughtsand the greed of the sick hearts.

Surah Al- Ahzab

Hadith: Abu Dawood narrated Aisha (RA)

Asma'a the daughter of Abu Bakr (RA) came to seethe Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)wearing a thin dress; so Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) turned away from her and said:

"0 Asma'a, once a woman reaches the age of puberty, no part of her body should be seen but this

-and he pointed to his face and hands."

Hadith: Al-Qurtubi narrated Aisha (RA)

AI-Qurtubi reports a narration from Ayesha (RA) that somewomen from Banu Tamim came to see her wearingtransparent clothing, Ayesha said to them:

"If you are believing women, these are not the clothesof believing women."

He also reports that a bride came to see wearing a sheer, transparent khimaar, whereupon Ayesha (RA) said:

"A woman who wears such clothing does not believe inSurah An-Nur."

The garment should be thick and opaque so as not to display skin color andform of the body beneath it. Delicate or transparent clothing does not constitute

a proper covering.

Surah An Noor

"Verily ,those who like that (the crime of) illegal

sexual intercourse should be propagated

among those who believe, they will have a

painful torment in this world and in the

hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not."

 [Qur’an An-Nur 24:19]

Intention

The first step on the road to hijab is the proper intention(Niy’yah).

The wearing of the hijab is the compliance to thecommand of Allah (SWT), therefore it can be classified asan act of worship.

The hijab must be worn for no other reason except tocomply with the order of Allah (SWT), solely for His(SWT) sake and seeking His (SWT) Pleasure.

If it is not done with this sincere intention, then itbecomes an act of either "Hypocrisy" or of "Ar-Riyaa(showing off)".

A finishing note…

May Allah give all the Muslimah out there the strength of

Iman, to be able to stand up against the wrongdoers.

Don’t be scared what people will say, think what Allah

thinks about you!

You may be shy as to what your ‘uncles’, ‘friends’,

‘cousins’ would think.

They would admire and respect you and even if they do

taunt or tease you, remember you are doing this to

please Allah.
