PurposeThis tutorial covers steps to create OBIEE11G KPIS, OBIEE11G Strategy Tree, OBIEE11g Dashboard, Dashboard Prompts,

Filters, Analysis, Charts and Pivots. Finally it shows how to integrate them into a single unit.

OverviewOBIEE11g provides rich functionalities to create Dashboard and Users requests in multiple formats i.e chart,tabular, pivots,

filters etc.Strategy Tree: is a component of a scorecard that shows an objective and its supporting child objectives and KPIs

hierarchically in a tree diagram.

KPIs : A KPI is a measurement of a particular business process which is compared against specific goals and objectives of an organization.

Dashboard : Single user interface to show the complete company stats in common windows.

Analysis — Business Users makes adhoc queries to satisfy various business questions by simply drag and drop the objects.

Filters/Dashboard Prompts— Enable users to filter the records. It could be based on user inputs.

Pivot: Cross Tabular layout of the information.

Chart: Graphical view of the business data.

Introduction: Strategy Tree is a component of a scorecard that shows an objective and its supporting child objectives

and KPIs hierarchically in a tree diagram. Oracle Scorecard and Strategy Management. A performance management tool that lets you describe and communicate your business strategy. You can drive and assess your corporate strategy and performance from the top of your organization down, or from the bottom up.

A strategy tree shows an objective and its supporting child objectives and KPIs hierarchically. It also provides supporting information for the objective, such as business owner and related documents.

A strategy tree lets you easily explore and navigate:

• The strategy for an entire scorecard (that is, the root objective) for example, ABC Corporation• The strategy for an individual objective, for example, Decrease Support Turnaround.

Create objectives Assign KPIs to objectives Create Strategy Hierarchy Define Relationships between Objectives/KPIs

Dashboard:- Create a Seasonality Dashboard .Below is the dashboard look of the report.


Creating KPIs and Assigning KPIs to objectives

KPI#1 Average Revenue Per FTE

To create KPI login into Analytics and go to right pane ClickNew and select KPI and SelectSample Headcount as Subject Area.

After selecting subject area creating KPI General Properties window will display. Here we

write in DescriptionThis KPI tracks the Average revenue per FTE , Click Edit Actual Value Formula.


After Click Edit Actual Value Formula. Edit Formula window will display. Here we write Filter expression in Column Formula.

We see the Column Formula in Actual Value . Click Edit Target Value Formula.


After Click Edit Actual Value Formula. Edit Formula window will display. Here we write formula in Column Formula.

To create KPI login into Analytics and go to right pane ClickNew and select KPI and SelectSample Sales as Subject Area.

After ClickBrowse. Select an object from the BI Catalog window will display. Here we Select Chart Legends from the location /Shared Folders/3.Analysis and Dashboards/Report Views/ Charts/Chart Legends.

Step 6:- Creating Scorecard

Now we create Strategy Tree using above KPIs. ClickNew then ClickScorecard


1) After Click on Scorecard New Scorecard window will display. Here we set dashboard NameMy Dashboard , Location/Shared Folder/ Performance Management1.

Creating Objective


Here we Right ClickMy Scorecard and SelectCreate Objective

3) After SelectedCreate Objective, New Objective window will display.


Improve Financial Result

Here we write the name of New Objective and also show Description if we want and then Select

PerspectiveFinancial ,Assessment FormulaWeighted, Indicator TypeLagging. Click New Row in Actions.

After Click New Row in Actions. SelectCRITICAL ,ClickCreate New Action and SelectNavigate to BI Content.

Add New Action window will display. Here we ClickBrowse.


After ClickBrowse. Select BI Content For Action window will display. Here we Select Financials dashboard.

After ClickOk, We see Add New Action window.

After ClickOk , we see the Action Link window here we see selected ActionNavigate to BI Content and in Link TextFinancial Analysis Dashboard.

ClickOk.After ClickOk, we see New Related Document window.


After ClickOk ,we see the related document in related document pane.

Similarly , again and again Click New Row in Related Documents. New Related Document window will display. Here we select TypeBI Content , then ClickBrowse and Select an Object From the BI Catalog. In below table we see the BI Content name and it's Location.


Now, Click Save. We see the Improve Financial Result under My Scorecard within the Strategy pane. Here we Right Click Improve Financial Result and SelectCreate Objective.

3) Now go to left side Catalog pane and SelectRevenue Kpi and drag it from Catalog and drop it

into Objectives & KPIs pane.


After we drag Revenue Kpi from Catalog to Objective & KPIs. Add KPI window will display.Here

we can set its properties and write in Label.

After ClickOk, We see Revenue Kpi in Objectives & KPIs.


Now again go to left side Catalog pane and SelectAverage Revenue per FTE and drag it from Catalog and drop it into Objectives & KPIs pane.

After we drag Average Revenue per FTE from Catalog to Objective & KPIs. Add KPI window will display.Here we can set its properties and write in Label.

After ClickOk, we see the Warning MessageA new child has been added whose weight is initially set to zero. Please assign weight to the newly added child and rebalance the other weights accordingly.

After ClickOk, We see Average Revenue per FTE in Objectives & KPIs and also set its weight according to previous Kpi.

Now again go to left side Catalog pane and SelectBilled Qty and drag it from Catalog and drop it into Objectives & KPIs pane.


After we drag Billed Qty from Catalog to Objective & KPIs. Add KPI window will display.Here we

can set its properties and write in Label.

After ClickOk, We see Billed Qty in Objectives & KPIs and also set its weight according to

previous Kpi and Click Scorecard Settings .

4) After Click Scorecard Settings . Settings window will display Here we Click Image.


After Click OK Icon. Replace Icon window will display. Here we Select OK Icon.

Again go to Settings window. Here we Click Warning Icon and Click Critical Icon and

then go to Replace Icon window and Here we Select Warning Icon and Select Critical Icon respectively.

After SelectedCreate Objective, New Objective window will display.

1) Here we write the name of New Objective as Reduce Cost and also show Description if we wantand then Select PerspectiveInternal Process ,Assessment FormulaWeighted, Indicator

TypeLeading. Click New Row in Actions.





After ClickBrowse. Select BI Content For Action window will display. Here we SelectOrder Details.

After we drag Avg Order Size from Catalog to Objective & KPIs. Add KPI window will display.Here we can set its properties and write in Label.

Now again go to left side Catalog pane and SelectCollect to Bill Ratio and drag it from Catalog and drop it into Objectives & KPIs pane.

4) Here we see the Related Documents in related documents pane then Click Save.


Creating Strategy Tree

Now, Here we create Strategy Tree. Click and SelectCreate Strategy Tree.

After SelectedCreate Strategy Tree , We see strategy tree in below image.


Step 10:- Now,Click Scorecard Settings .Settings window will display. Here we SelectFirst

Row of dimension settings and then Click Edit Row .

Edit Dimension Settings window will display. Here we write in LabelRegion Hierarchy.

dimension settings and then Click Edit Row .

Step 11:- Now, we create Strategy Tree dashboard. ClickNew and SelectDashboard or directly go to Dashboard option in Analysis and Interactive Reporting.

Placing the Strategy Tree in Dashboard

1) New Dashboard window will open and here we set the properties like NameSimple Dashboard ,Location/Shared Folder / 0.Overview/Dashboards ,ContentAdd content now.


ClickOk.

2)After ClickOk ,We see dashboard page ,her e in dashboard page we see dashboard objects, Catalog, Add dashboard page , Delete dashboard page, Preview ,Run , Dashboard properties.

3) Click Dashboard Properties.

4)After ClickDashboard Properties ,the dashboard properties window will display. Here we see the properties like Rename, Edit ,Delete etc.


5)Select the Page1 row ClickRename option, After ClickRename the Rename window will display ,Here we write the Name Strategy Tree .

ClickOk.

We see the dashboard name in Page1 row.

6) After ClickOk , we see the dashboard name in the dashboard page. Here we drag Column and Section Dashboard Objects, from left side of Dashboard Objects pane and drop in to right side pane.


Now we drag and drop Strategy Tree in section within column from Catalog left side pane.

After drag and drop Strategy Tree in section Dimension Pinnings window will display.

ClickOk.

7) ClickSection Properties and SelectFormat Section.


After SelectedFormat Section. Section Properties window will display. Here we set its properties like Border(Position)None , Indent(Left Padding)0 , Right Padding0 , Top Padding0 , Right Padding0.

ClickOk.

8)Now, Click Save and then Click Run.


9) After Click Run ,We see the Strategy Tree dashboard.
