God did it! He made light, stars, birds, trees, your pets, your parents, and you! God made every- thing! He is the great Creator. In Isaiah 40:28 it says, “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Crea- tor of the ends of the earth...His understanding no one can fathom.” Webster’s Dictionary defines science as “the study of the natural phenom- ena” (a rare occurrence of some event). A Christian knows that science is actu- ally studying what God created. It’s better understanding what God has made! God is the great scientist who created what the dictionary calls “natural phenom- ena.” As you start a new year of school, look for God’s cool things God has created in your science class and science experiments. And if someone tells you that the world was not created, it just evolved, just remember they don’t have all the facts. Maybe they haven’t read the greatest book of all, the Bible. You can even review the creation story by turning to page 1 of your Bible and reading Genesis chapter 1. Read it with your mom and dad and talk about how cool it would have been to see plants, animals, Adam and Eve, being created right before your very eyes. God is so amaz- ing and powerful. Today let God know how great you think He is. Take a walk outside. Take a deep breath, feel the warm sun on your skin, smell the flowers, watch the birds fly, find a really cool bug, and remember that God created it all. This years science class will be great! Thank you God for science!!! Kids have been fascinated with cool science experiments forever. You can mix two different

things together, and watch as they form into something new. Sometimes the new creation

bubbles, vaporizes, gets hot, gets cold, or turns a different color. The best experiment was when

God created the universe. What’s really cool is God created everything from nothing. You could

say this makes God the ultimate _________! Hey, where did the last word of that sentence go?

To find out what that word is you need to begin at the top arrow of the puzzle and go to the bot-

tom arrow in eight moves, putting the letters to-gether as you make your way to the bottom. But

beware, not every path will lead you to the right answer.

God put some really cool stuff on earth. Some of the stuff may seem kind of boring, but when mixed together, the fun has just begun. Ask an adult to help you, and try the following experi-ments!

CLEAR IMAGE You need: clean pane of glass, soapy water What to do: Dip finger in soapy water and write a secret message on glass. Where did the words go? Try breathing on the glass.

BACK AND FORTH You need: pie pan, water, pepper, soap, sugar What to do: Fill pan with water. Sprinkle pepper in water. Dip wet soap in pepper and see who takes off running. Shake some sugar in the water, and see who comes back around.

SPILLING OVER

You need: jar, 1 c. vinegar, 1 Tbsp. baking soda, food col-oring What to do: Put baking soda in a jar and place jar in a shallow pan (pie plate). Add a few drops of food coloring to the vinegar and stir. Pour vinegar into jar with baking soda.

SINK OR FLOAT You need: 3 tall drinking glasses, 3 fresh eggs, salt, rubbing alcohol What to do: Fill 1 glass with water. Fill 1 glass half with water and add salt until no more dissolves; fill the rest with alcohol. Fill 1 glass with water and add salt until no more will dissolve. Drop one egg in each glass and watch what happens!

School is in full swing, but learning can always come from the home as well. A valuable lesson to them is that God was really creative when He made humans, especially when it comes to the five senses. Use the following activity as an opening to talk with your children about creation and being thankful for the way God made them.

A creative and fun way to teach and apply one of the five senses with your kids is through an at-home Smelling Bee. To set up this activity, choose five or six foods that have distinctive smells they can easily decipher. Some great exam-ples for well-known food smells are mus-tard, chocolate and peanut butter. Get creative! Once the foods and smells have been chosen, set them up on a ta-ble and keep them covered up so the kids have to use their nose and not their eyes to identify them. You can even blindfold them for that extra insurance that sight is not a factor. Lead them through the line of covered foods and ask them to either verbally identify the food or have them write them down at the end. Cheer them on and have fun!!

Does anyone else think that the month of August just flew on by??? Well, I know it did for me and Ms. Ronda!!! Wow, we are entering into the month of September already! It is a month of new changes for mostly everyone. Children entering new grades, new classrooms, new teachers, maybe even new schools. But do you know who NEVER changes??? That’s right... God!!! His love is never changing and He loves each and eve-ryone one of us the same!!! Isn’t that AWESOME!!!! We even found that we had a few changes in KIDZONE Kid’s Church. The children going into first grade this year from PROMISELAND came up to “Big Kid’s” church for the very first time. And the kids that are going into the 7th grade went on to UNCOMMON; the Youth program. But before they left, we had them put their handprint in colored paint and place it on our wall in Kids Church.; leaving their mark or their “IMPACT” so to speak. I spoke with each of them and stated to them to now go out and make an IMPACT on their world!!! Check out the wall in kid’s church; see the hand-prints and the person’s name by it! We will miss them, but we are very proud of them! Don’t forget that the month of September starts some very important pro-grams. Tuesday evenings starts Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K). Wednesday evenings are M’Pact girls and Royal Rangers. Sunday evenings starting on September 11, is our Pizza and Pop night at 5:15pm and the start of Christian Ed (CE) which begins at 6:00pm. Let’s try and attend these activities! God has so much to share with us through these programs and our Children’s area is so glad to be in support of each and every one of them!!! Please, take time to thank the teachers and the helpers. They volunteer their time and talents, and for that we are truly grateful!! As I prepare for this month and the upcoming months, I pray for each and every one of you. God has a plan for each and every one and we are happy to be a part of that plan. Mr. Jim & Ms. Ronda
