One last meal and then you and your mother will die. This is exactly what happened to a widow and her son in the book of I Kings chapter 17. Little did they know God wanted to show them why people called Him Jehovah Jireh. The Hebrews had many titles describing God. Each title started with “Jehovah” which was the name used for God. The word Jireh means “our provider.” The title Jehovah Jireh means “God is our provider.” You can trust God to take care of all your needs. The key is to “trust” Him. The widow is a great example! The prophet Elijah asked the widow to fix him a meal. She told him she and her son only had enough food for one meal. Elijah asked her to trust God and give him their last meal. The woman trusted God and obeyed. Then came the miracle. Jehovah Jireh, the provider, made sure that every time she opened her canister of flour and jar of oil, there was always enough for one more meal. She never had to worry about food again. The Bible says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NIV) Jehovah Jireh still provides for those who trust Him. It’s great knowing that God is watching out for your family. Trust God and He will keep food on your table, clothes on your back, and a roof over your head. Did you notice how God used the widow to provide for Elijah? Maybe God wants you to help someone. Ask your parents to help you provide food or clothes for someone in your town who needs a little help from Jehovah Jireh. The Bible is full of characters whose names start with the letter “J.” Of course, some of these characters are more famous than others. See how many of them you can find in the puzzle below. If you get stuck, there are some scripture clues below to help you out. Have fun!!!

I Samuel 18:3 Matthew 4:21 Matthew 27:3 Genesis 37:28

Matthew 14:31-33 Joshua 10:12 II Kings 9:30 Job 1:7

Genesis 25:26 A book of the Bible Jeremiah 9:1 Matthew 3:13

This month’s fun centers around the letter “J.” Gather up some friends and have a jolly good time!

Jell-o Jiggle Have mom help fix 2 large boxes of jell-o in separate bowls. Before the jell-o sets, drop in 5 marbles (or other small objects). Put bowls in refrigerator and allow to thicken. Take the bowls outside with a friend. Take off your shoes and using only your toes see who can be the first person to squish out all of the marbles.

What kind of car does Mickey Mouse's wife drive? A minnie van. What happens when you throw a green stone in the red sea? It gets wet. Where do snowmen go to dance? A snowball. What is the most slippery country in the world? Greece. How do you make a milk shake? Give it a good scare.

Jammin’ Jokes

Can a jar bring your family closer together? These jars sure can. Use the ideas below to make an impact on your family and others. • Jar Full of Fun. Each family member saves money in the

FUN jar. Set a goal such as going out for ice cream or a trip to an amusement park.

• Jar Full of Love. Decorate a jar together using paint, candy, and small objects. Bake a treat to put in the jar and then give it to someone who could use some love.

• Jar Full of Worries. Each family member writes their worries or prayer requests on a slip of paper. Pull one slip each night at dinner and pray for that need. When God answers the prayer, the whole family will rejoice because they played a part in prayer.

• Jar of Encouragement. Leave a jar in a designated spot for a week. All week each family member writes notes of encouragement for other family members. At the end of the week, give each person all the notes written for them. After all the notes have been read it’s time for a big family hug!!

Hey Kids,

Wow it’s hard to believe it’s Aug. the last month of summer vacation. I pray you have been enjoying your time away from school. But remember that summer is not a time away from God. He never takes a vacation from you. It has been good to see so many of you every Sunday this summer.

Each year, Aug. brings about many changes, and this year is no different.

August 8th is our 6th graders last Sunday in Kid church...we will miss you!!

August 15th is the first Sunday our soon to be 1st graders get to start coming to Kids Church. Yahoo!!!

August 5th we will be having a JLT (Junior Leadership Team) training. If you are going into 5th or 6th grade and have been inter-ested in joining the JLT, this is your chance to be trained. Join us Thursday, Aug. 5th from 12:30—2:30pm. From there you will have a chance to see if ministering to younger kids is what God is calling you to do. If you are interested in coming please have your parents call the church office (715-887-3565) or email me at [email protected]. Have a great rest of the summer!
