IMPACTGROWTH THROUGH DISRUPTION
2016 CAPITALCONFERENCENOVEMBER 29 — 30, 2016
THE SHERATON DOWNTOWN PHILADELPHIA HOTEL and the CRYSTAL TEA ROOM
PRESENTED BY: HOSTED BY:
GROWTH THROUGH DISRUPTION
Disruption = [dis-ruhp-shuh n]
Shakes the box. It’s a radical change in an industry or business strategy. Disruption can be intentional;
out of necessity. Disruption works as a tool, a catalyst and a result of change.
Through best practices in technology, healthcare and early stage innovation, the IMPACT 2016 Capital
Conference will examine disruptions in the marketplace of ideas.
It is our honor to invite you to attend the IMPACT 2016 Capital Conference, being held November 29th and 30th the Sheraton Downtown Philadelphia Hotel and The Crystal Tea Room. As the region’s premier venture conference, IMPACT attracts top investors, advisors, and entrepreneurs and makes real business connections resulting in billions of dollars in funding and entrepreneurial success.
2016 is proving to be a dynamic and disruptive year, especially for the business world. Through our theme, “Growth through Disruption”, we will examine the disruptive technologies that are changing the face of industry including drones, driverless cars, and the internet of things. Additionally, the upcoming presidential election has seen its share of disruption and will have a huge impact on the entrepreneurial community. We are excited to welcome Michael Smerconish, Host of The Michael Smerconish Program on SiriusXM Channel 124 and Host of CNN’s Smerconish, to give his insights and analysis after the election. We are also thrilled to welcome Michele Peluso, CMO, IBM, Member of the Board of Directors for Nike, and former CEO of Gilt.com and Travelocity.
There are other exciting features of the conference that we are pleased to announce. We will be bringing back the highly anticipated “Lion’s Den” session where last year two entrepreneurial companies walked away with over half a million dollars in startup funding. The conference will be adding a new student expo center that will help inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. We have also expanded the one on one networking opportunities throughout the conference to give entrepreneurs and the capital community more opportunity to build meaningful relationships. IMPACT2016 will also feature the Gala Reception which has grown to be the region’s premier networking event for the venture community.
On behalf of Grant Thornton, our fellow sponsors, committee members and the entire PACT community, we are excited to invite you to this unique event. We look forward to seeing you in November!
Dave Maturo Director of Business Development Grant Thornton LLP Host Vice-Chair, IMPACT 2016
Sean Denham Office Managing Partner Grant Thornton LLP Host Chair, IMPACT 2016

HEALTHCARE SALES CYCLES: HEAR FROM THE EXPERTS, HOW TO SELL AND GET PAID Whether it’s providers or payers, healthcare enterprise sales cycles seem interminably long. Why? Certainly healthcare is not lacking for innovation or inside and outside forces pushing for change. Learn from stakeholders on both sides of the table about how to sell product to a big customer. Panelists will also discuss how they think about the shifting financial landscape in healthcare as we move from volume to value. These reimbursement dynamics are significantly impacting who pays for care and the incentives that different groups have to keep patients healthy. Healthcare start-ups are increasingly helping their customers bear healthcare quality and outcomes risk, sharing in the financial upside of successful results.

TECHNOLOGY
“VALUATION CREATION VIA DISRUPTION” Hear from a panel of successful entrepreneurs who are challenging the status quo to build exciting new businesses. Merriam-Webster defines Disruption as “interrupting the normal progress or activity of (something)”. Disruption creates opportunity and can come in many forms: i) challenging the current regulatory or legal environment, ii) breaking existing business models and iii) new technologies such as virtual reality, drones or driverless vehicles. But disruption does not always come easy or without resistance, but then again the stories wouldn’t be good if they were easy.

HEALTHCAREHEALTHCARE INVESTING – PAST, FUTURE, AND THE ENTRANCE OF NEW INVESTORS
By most accounts, healthcare investing is at or near an all-time high in 2016. Biotechs continued to IPO in the first half of the year even as tech unicorns sat on the sidelines. Venture investing in digital health companies barely paused as investors in other sectors pulled back following market trembles in late 2015 and early 2016. And more new investors have entered U.S. health investing, including “corporates” - ranging from traditional healthcare players like provider systems to general tech companies like Nokia – and overseas players particularly from Asia, who are looking to bring U.S. technologies to foreign markets. What is the cause of this strength and we should we expect for 2017? Are these new investors a flash in the pan or here to stay? Hear the panelists talk about the current landscape of investors, their insights from recent market developments, and their outlook for the year ahead.
