Mission: to provide decent, safe and affordable rental housing with supportive social services for farm

workers and other low-income families

HOPE PROJECT 2007

Project Activities:• 6-week Nutrition Course

– 2 hours, one evening per week– Teaching sessions and cooking demonstrations,

reinforced by at-home cooking assignments– Field trip to grocery store to practice healthy food

selection and reading of food labels– Teaching materials include: Healthy Hispanic Foods

Resource Kit & Fruits & Veggies More Matters

• Establish neighborhood walking group

• Establish morning exercise class

– Appropriate portion sizes– How to read food labels– How to prepare traditional Hispanic foods in

healthy ways

• Increase consumption of fruits & vegetables
