Immanuel Schools History Week 2011
We come back to school after the Easter Holidays for a three day
week between Tuesday 26th
April and
Thursday 28th
April inclusive. This shortened week is due to Bank Holiday
Monday and the Royal Wedding.
It has been decided that this week will become History Week at
school with all the children starting their
summer term history work as well as undertaking some special
one-off history activities, notably with a British
History connection. The week is also close to St Georges Day
which is a very special day in the English historycalendar.
The additional activities that will happen will include:
A special Teachers versus Teachers History Quiz in Tuesdays
Assembly The winners of the Teachers quiz will play the children in
the Quiz final in Wednesdays Assembly British History Dressing Up
Day on Thursday 28th April - recommended costumes: Kings &
Queens,
famous people in British History or just in the colours of the
British flag, namely red, white & blue
A Royal Wedding Street Party in the playground on the afternoon
of Thursday 28 th April we will belooking for all children to bring
something to this whole school party in the playground and
parent/carer volunteers will be sought to help with the
organisation and clearing up.
We aim to make lots of flags and bunting, learn lots of new
history facts as well know the National Anthem off
by heart by the end of this week. It should be both an
interesting and fun week.
We hope you will all enjoy supporting our efforts in celebrating
History Week at Immanuel. More details on
events, particularly the planned Street Party will follow in due
course.
