COMMUNION STATEMENT

AVENT means “coming”. Christ came in the flesh at Bethlehem, He

comes now in word and sacrament, and He will come again in judgement.

As we look forward to His final coming, we find our deepest joy and com-

fort in His present coming with His very body and blood for our for-

giveness. As we receive the Lord’s Supper today, guests desiring to com-

mune are asked to speak with the pastor before the service. For Scriptural

reasons, we practice close communion.

STEWARDSHIP BIBLE VERSE FOR DECEMBER 13, 2015

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in every-

thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be

made known to God.” (Philippians 4:5-6 ESV). Wouldn't you like to be

free from worry and anxiety? Isn't it worry and anxiety that often keep

us from living the generous life God has called us to? St. Paul contrasts

anxiety with prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving in making our re-

quests known to God. In other words, when you are tempted to anxiety

and worry: pray to the Lord with a thankful heart and pour out your

supplications before Him.
