'Taking Risk for the Reign of God'
Dear beloved in Christ,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Recent murders in France caught all our attention, and it pointed to religious harmony and world peace. A student killed his teacher for
his religious belief, and another young man brutally killed three people inside a church. If we look at the Christian missions world-
wide, the Christian missionaries promoted a methodology of theo-logical exclusivism in proclaiming Christ. This method encouraged hatred towards other faith and beliefs. Thus, the people of other
faith started questioning Christianity's dominant presence, which was condemning the other religions. In the Indian context, Indian
Christians evolved a method of inclusivism and proclaimed a Christ, who is for all. Dr. M. M. Thomas, a renowned theologian, in-vites the Indian Christians to risk Christ for the sake of Christ.
In every age, the community of faith must discover the shape of its
ministry and witness. We must discern how we are to be faithful to the gospel and effective in our mission: to celebrate God's saving
presence and to contribute, by word and action and sacrament, to the fullness of this presence-God's reign that comes in justice and peace. The goal of developing a method of relection/witness in
Christian life is not simply to help believers understand more clear-ly, but to help them to act more effectively- that is, in ways that are
faithful to the good news of salvation made known to us in Jesus Christ- and to help them become competent in proclaiming this good news in our own time.
Christians today need aportable method: a relective process that
they can carry with them to the daily duties and challenges of their life of faith. We also need aperformable method: a style of discern-ment that is simple and straightforward enough to lead our relec-tions toward practical action. And we need acommunalmethod: a shared strategy by which Christian gatherings can face the chal-
lenges in their surrounding culture and agree on how to witness their faith here and now.

The Reign of God: The ides of the Kingdom of God (or reign of
God) is expressed frequently in the Bible, particularly in the teach-
ing of Jesus Christ. It is not a 'kingdom' or 'realm'; it is a matter of
relationship, not a geography. In this understanding, God's reign is
now present and effective. The reign of God brought healing, for-
giveness, justice, and peace. The Kingdom was in the midst of the
human community, but it was also still on the horizon. Lives were
changed, and communities were challenged. According to Jesus,
God's reign was not something political or worldly, but nonethe-
less, it could be sought, and it required sacriice.
Abraham pleads with God for the salvation of the people of Sodom.
Persistently, intelligently and rationally, he 'bargains' with God. All
the while, he never forgets that he is 'but dust and ashes' (Gen.
18:26-33). Religious life is ambiguous. It can make human sensitive
or insensitive to the problem of society. Abraham, here was an
awakened man, who watched the city of Sodom, and he sensed that
the time of judgment upon it came. Similarly, we are entrusted with
a great commission to witness Christ, not disturbing our brothers
and sisters' sensitivity, but to relect Christ in our words, deeds,
and thoughts.
May God bless us and empower us to transcend boundaries, break
the traditional restrictions, and witness Christ in our words, deeds, and thoughts.
Yours in Christ

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and all are safe as we
continue to face this ongoing pandemic. To stay up to date about
any CSI Youth events, check the GroupMe chats, and contact myself
or other youth members with questions or details on how to join.
In the coming months, we will have more details about future
youth-related events. Every month the North American CSI group
has been holding meetings through zoom and we encourage all
members to participate. For further details or questions about
these monthly meetings and how to join please contact Sarah and I.
May you keep all members of this church and organizations in your
thoughts and prayers. I would like to share a quote from the bible
to guide us through these dificult times of uncertainty and worry.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and suppli-
cation, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“Be still and know that i am God” – Psalm 46:10
We have been living in this weird, unpredictable corona virus driv-
en world for the past 7 months now. It’s hard to believe that we are
actually seeing and feeling something that we have always read in
the Bible, addressed to as a plague, fever, epidemic, outbreak re-
peatedly occurring centuries after centuries.
While we were at it, most of us have gone through of these
sentiments.

So much of our fear and anxiety arises from over thinking. We ob-
sess over terrible things that could happen. We dwell on what we
have lost, freedom of movement, change of plans, new routines.
Imagining the good that could out of the current situation is not
always our irst thought.
But God has always brought good after evil, post a troubled period.
It is only a matter of time. And it is during this time that we have to
connect with God on a deeper level by praying, worshiping and
giving thanks.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the moun-
tains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.” – Psalm461-3
Let’s pray for each other. Let’s remember Jesus’s ability to remain
calm amidst a storm. Let’s learn to be still and know that he is God.
