MIDWEEK REFRESHER
READ: John 6: 41-51 REFLECT: "I am the bread from heaven!" This solemn saying provokes scandalized murmurs from the crowd. A tragic misunderstanding has arisen between Jesus and his hearers. Before identifying himself as the bread of life, Jesus shared the bread of ordinary people. For thirty years his life was marked by everyday meals, festi-val meals, funeral meals. At the end of those years, the crowd sees only the man who has shared their bread. "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? How can he claim to have come down from heaven?" The heart of unbelief is to see in Jesus only the one who shares the bread of the people, not the one who shares his own life in the bread. "The bread I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world." Jesus is the one who gives the bread. We are tempted to reduce religion to the initiative of the one who decides for God. But it is God who first shares life with us. PRAY: Pray to know the Eucharist more deeply in your life. ACT: As you receive the Eucharist be aware that it is: "The bread I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world."

BOX TOPS FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
While several schools have closed in the area, we as a parish have parishioners with school age children at-tending surrounding catholic schools. We have children in St. Anthony’s, Everett; St. Rose, Chelsea; and St. Ann’s, Somerville; just to name a few. In an effort to support them, a simple way is the “Box tops Education” program. Please clip the box tops from your favorite cereals, bakery goods, paper products and put them in an envelope marked “Box Tops” and we will divide them up and send to the schools. Thank you for helping!

PULL-TABS FOR RECYCLING We are assisting the Shriners’ Burn Institute in collecting Pull-Tabs from soda cans. The tabs are sold to a recycling company and the proceeds are being used to buy non-medical items for the children in the hospital.
