WE PRAY EASTER
These 50 Days are the heart of our Catholic faith. The stone is rolled away from all tombs: we remember our lives have meaning and
purpose and we are alive forever! And so we are overcome with joy. Waters flow; bells ring; aromas, flowers, and banners brighten
our senses. Our Easter liturgies are energetic and effervescent. We sing the ancient Gloria with new voices. Our response to the Acts
of the Apostles (our first Scripture during the season) is Psalm 66: “Lift up your hearts to the Lord, praise God’s gracious mercy! Sing
out your joy to the Lord, whose love is enduring.” Our Gospel Acclamation in contrast to Lent’s quiet, is the enthusiastic Caribbean
“Alle, Alle, Alleluia.” We renew our baptismal promises in our Creedal questions. When we come to the Lord’s Table and break bread
and drink wine Christ is really present among us...changing and transforming our lives into what our community needs. We sing of our
mystery: “Savior of the world, by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.” We are sent forth, renewed and energized in
God’s love to live fully every day!

There is always a need for old bags to be reused. Food Pantry Volunteers … We are looking for volunteers at the Food Pantry to help. If you are interested, please call Dianne Hosterman at 686-5310.
CHANGE FOR THE GOOD We have a change collection box at the entrance of our church. Spare change can be dropped off any time. These donations will be used to support good charities that serve our people. This is a place where all jingling contributions are welcome.

New Horizons of Faith: Beatitudes of Christian Living Celebrate Earth Day 2018
On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans made history and helped launch the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. Today, major pressures on our environment include population growth, climate change, and plastic waste. Pope Francis tells us that global action is needed to reduce pollution and pro-tect God’s creation. Here are some fun things for the whole family:
• Earth Day in the Pine Bush, Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The Albany Pine Bush Dis-covery Center is looking for volunteers on conservation projects: a variety of activities suitable for all ages will be taking place, all equipment will be provided and lunch will be provided for all volunteers. • Honest Weight Food Co-op, Albany is hosting various Earth Day activities on Sat, April 21, Noon – 4:00 PM, including Albany Bike Rescue repair workshop, Kids Nutrition Activities, Solar Energy for Beginners, and free e-waste recycling. www.honestweight.coop or call 518.482.2667

• On Monday, April 23rd, a broad coalition of over 100 environmental and social justice groups will join together on Legislative Earth Day in a march and rally to tell Gov. Cuomo to “Walk the Talk on Climate.” Details available at www.cuomowalkthetalk.org

SPREADING THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL: OUR 2018 BISHOP’S APPEAL
The 2018 Bishop’s Appeal will be held on the weekend of May 5/6. This is our opportunity to unite together as one Catholic family, to answer the challenge given to us by Jesus Christ to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, comfort the afflicted, and to promote justice for every person. In these next weeks, please take the time to prayerfully reflect on the gifts that you have been given by God and respond to the Bishop’s Ap-peal as generously as you possibly can. Your participation is essential to the success of the Bishop’s Appeal. Please join other Catholics from throughout the fourteen counties of the diocese in supporting this very important collection.
EASTER: 50 DAYS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In the liturgies of the Triduum and Easter, the Church remembers the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of the Lord. But although these liturgies are full of drama and a powerful sense of history, liturgical remembering is not about the past; it is about the present. When the Church remem-bers, something happens in the here and now. “Recalling thus the mysteries of redemption, the Church opens to the faithful the riches of the Lord’s powers and merits, so that these are in some way made present in every age in order that the faithful may lay hold on them and be filled with saving grace.” The Triduum is, in a word, sacramental; for the Resurrection is not just remembered, as great events in histo-ry are remembered; the Resurrection happens. God’s Dream … Our Work Each person makes a difference! Our Eucharist sends us forth to embody Christ’s love, Christ’s Justice, Christ’s Healing, and Christ’s Reign in every aspect of our life and the life of our world community. Never say “you don’t matter” because you do! You make all the difference in the world. Here are some activities that may interest you in order to help another person, stand up for what is right, or care for our Earth. Remember, our Catholic faith is not self-centered, but selfless…going out of ourselves to witness to God’s sacred presence every day, everywhere. May the restless Spirit of Resurrection within you never settle for less, the uninspired, the tired, or the untrue…but may you always seek to live the ideal, the truly beautiful, the most unsettling, the deepest life giving love for all people! The stone has been rolled away … Let us journey forth … together! RESPECT LIFE
Stand up for anyone who is being abused by domestic violence. Call Catholic Charities (free and confidential) at 453-6650. Get help for yourself or someone else who is abused by hitting, humiliation, guilt, bullying, or forced sex.
Contribute to the National Adoption Foundation, 100 Mill Plain Road, Danbury, CT 06811 (National Adoption Foundation.org) helping families adopt children.
Visit someone who is homebound or resides at a nursing home.
Invite a troubled drinker to AA - local meeting are Monday evenings at 8pm at the Hoosick Baptist Church.
Help Amnesty International USA, 322 8th Ave., New York, NY 10001; www.amnestyuse.org - in demanding that all forms of torture cease, political prisoners receive fair trials, and death squads be eliminated.
The Roarke Center, Troy (273-8351) helps women with legal issues and when leaving incarceration.
Learn and do something about the worldwide crime of human trafficking (modern slavery). More than 29 million people are held in bond-age for forced labor or sexual exploitation. Contact the “Project to End Human Trafficking.”
RESPECT THE EARTH
Support “Trees for Life” 3006 West St. Louis, Wichita, KS 67203. This group supplies native, fruit and shade trees to devastated areas throughout the world. Help reforest Mount Kilimanjaro with 3 million trees with Interfaith Power & Light on the net (or 415-561-4891).
Buy produce at local farm stands; at the store, make sure produce is grown in America. Support local farmers.
Use a cloth shopping bag instead of plastic.
Contribute to the Nature Conservancy, P. O. Box 65, Keene Valley, NY 12943 in preserving rare mountain habitats.
Recycle everything that you can.
Pick up litter on the Hoosic River Trail.
Plant an extra row of vegetables to share at our Food Pantry.
Use less fertilizer on your lawn and garden. Runoff pollutes our waters.
Learn about Global Warming and what you can do to help future generations.
Plant a tree, feed the birds, put up a bat house. FAMILY, COMMUNITY AND CHURCH
Bring a can of soup to our Food Pantry.
Volunteer as an altar server, join the choir, read at Mass.
Volunteer time, talent and treasure to benefit Catholic education in our community by supporting St. Mary’s Academy, including attending the Duck Derby.
Volunteer at Bennington Veteran’s Home.
Assist the Girl Scouts with our Food Pantry Garden.
Think about becoming a priest.
Support our school sports teams, musicians, and singers.
Laugh and enjoy life … smile at Mass … celebrate friendship.
Change a negative in your life and do something positive. Exercise!
Help a neighbor, ride a bike, share some flowers, kayak down a river. POLITICAL ARENA
