FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT, DECEMBER 23, 2018

Dear Parishioners & Guests,

Welcome to Immaculate Conception Parish as

we anticipate our celebration of the feast of

Christmas. We pray that you may find warmth and

welcome in our community of faith.

In this season of peace and joy, when the

warmth of Christ glows in our hearts and our homes,

we rejoice with the angels on high and give glory to

God for the great gift of Jesus Christ, His Son, Our

Lord. As we come together to celebrate His birth,

may we remember the true meaning of this holy

season.

In the midst of a world in turmoil and so

many hearts yearning for inner peace, the only true

source for peace and joy is still the Word Made Flesh

– Our Infant Savior. Let us pray that this peace may

reach the depths of our hearts and to all the ends of

the earth.

Along with all the Parish and School Staff, we

wish you a blessed and safe holiday season. May the

celebration of the birth of Our Lord be cause for

great rejoicing for you and your families. Merry

Christmas!

Bingo Volunteers Needed Bingo has long been a community event and a

valuable source of income for Immaculate Conception

School as a portion of the annual subsidy provided by

I.C. Church. On February 1, 2018 we eliminated

Tuesday evening play dates due to shortage of

volunteers. As a new bingo year unfolds many

volunteer positions are vacant for Sunday bingo. If

you are willing to spare five Sunday evenings over

the course of a year, please consider volunteering for

one of these openings: bingo caller (2 needed); ticket

sale floor person (5 needed); crew captain (one

needed); bookkeeper (one needed); kitchen worker

(one needed). Please contact Lindsey Lunz in the

parish office to sign up or for additional information

419-586-6648. Thanks to all the bingo volunteers

that continue to serve through the sharing of their

time and talent!

If Your Marriage Needs Help… Retrouvaille...A lifeline

Is your marriage going down the right

road... or is it a little off track? Life can be difficult,

and so can the challenges you face in marriage. Does

the distance between you seem wide? Have you or

your spouse become unloving or uncaring? Are you

already separated or divorced or even thinking about

it? Looking for a better way? Retrouvaille can help

and offers hope for a better relationship. Retrouvaille

is a confidential peer ministry of volunteer couples

that can help you learn the tools of healthy

communication, build intimacy and healing, just as

they have done in their own marriages. Retrouvaille

is Christian-based, and Catholic in origin, but

welcomes couples of all faiths as well as non-

religious couples. Retrouvaille can help get your

relationship back on track. No couple is ever denied

the chance to heal and renew their marriage because

they face financial difficulties. For more information

about our upcoming Retrouvaille of Cincinnati/Tri-

State weekend on January 11-13, 2019 contact:

www.cincyretrouvaille.org, www.retrouvaille.org,

helpourmarriage.org or 513-456-5413.

Take a moment to contemplate the symbols of

the season. The crèche tells us the Gospel stories:

first from Luke, which details the human birth in a

lowly stable and the angels' message to shepherds;

and later from Matthew, which describes the arrival

of Magi who signify that God's salvation extends to

all. The angels stand as heralds of the good news, an

emblem for each of us on this solemn feast of our own

duty to spread the message that Christ is born and

saves us from our sins. The tree stands as a symbol of

life, its green branches unfading even in the winter

cold, just as God's life remains in us even though our

human form should die. The wreath made of ever-

greens reminds us that God is one, without beginning

or end. The candles recall the birth of him who is for-

ever the Light of the world. Today, we celebrate the

fact that God came to earth as a beautiful, innocent

infant who rejects no one. We rejoice this day in the

birth of Christ! And tonight, we remember that Jesus

Christ came into this world quietly, humbly, and

gracefully, an example of how we should live our

lives.
