Moses spoke to all the people, saying: “A prophet like me will the LORD, your God, raise up for you from among your own kin; to him you shall listen. This is exactly what you requested of the LORD, your God, at Horeb on the day of the assem-bly, when you said, ‘Let us not again hear the voice of the LORD, our God, nor see this great fire any more, lest we die.’ And the LORD said to me, ‘This was well said. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kin, and will put my words into his mouth; he shall tell them all that I command him. Whoever will not listen to my words which he speaks in my name, I myself will make him answer for it. But if a prophet presumes to speak in my name an oracle that I have not com-manded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, he shall die.’”

Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anx-ious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. I am telling you this for your own benefit, not to impose a restraint upon you, but for the sake of propriety and adherence to the Lord without dis-traction.
Gospel: MK 1:14-20 Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath Jesus entered the syn-agogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their syna-gogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit con-vulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority. He com-

Pastoral Council Meeting Attention Pastoral Council members, we will have a meeting on Wednes-day, February 4th at 6:00 PM in the Card Room of the St. Mary’s Center. Our primary goal will be to determine what our next steps should be to move forward with accomplishing our goals.
We need more people helping out in our ministries… As we get ready to enter the new year, please consider helping out in one or more of our ministries. We should re-ally have 3-4 more people serving as Sacristans so the daily and weekend
responsibilities can be spread out over more people. We are also still looking for Eucharistic Ministers for the Satur-day evening Mass so we can offer the Precious Blood regu-larly. Ideally if we get enough people to volunteer, individu-als would only be called on once a month to serve. Consid-er a New Years Resolution to serve our community. If you are interested or want more information, fill out one of the forms and drop your name in the bucket.

to know the new Cursiestas from the past weeks Women’s and
Men’s Cursillo. Thursday, Feb-ruary 5th, 7:00 PM in the Card Room of the St. Mary Center.
It’s called an Ambry. A special thank you to John Porter for building us a new Ambry to hold our holy oils. There are 3 distinct oils that each serve a very special purpose. The Holy Oil (OS) is used in the Bap-tismal rite and during RCIA instruction. It is used to help exorcise evil. The Sacred Chrism (SC) is a specially scented oil that is used at Baptisms and Confirmation. It symbolizes the infusion of the Holy Spirit when it is applied. The Oil of the Infirm (OI) is the final oil that is used in anointing people receiving the Sacrament of the Sick. These oils are sent to us every year after the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday when the Bishop blesses the oils for the Diocese.
Eucharistic Adoration We will be having Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday, February 5th at 6:00 PM in the Immaculate Conception Church. This is be-ing done in conjunction with the Ultreya being held that same evening. All are wel-come to come and spend some time in qui-et meditation with our Lord.

SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION Infant Baptism: Parents must be registered & active members of this parish or of another parish with family here in the parish (i.e., par-ents). Letter of permission from Pastor if parents are from outside the parish. Two Godparents who are registered and active members of their parish, one male and one female. Contact the Pastor before infant’s due date to arrange date and time. Holy Matrimony: Couples discerning this sacrament should con-tact the Pastor immediately after becoming engaged. NOTE: the diocese requires a minimum of 6 months advance notice regarding the intention to marry. Couples wishing to marry in the parish must be registered and active members of the parish, or individuals who have moved away whose parents are still active in the parish. Couples from other parishes must obtain a letter of permission to marry outside of their own parish. Anointing of the Sick: Individuals who have been diagnosed as terminally or gravely ill or are preparing for invasive surgery should re-quest this sacrament. Confession ordinarily proceeds receiving the sacra-ment of the sick, call the church office at 846-4114 to make arrange-ments. Adult Confirmation, Adult Baptism (RCIA), and Adult Reception into Full Communion with the Church: If you, a family member, or a friend has not received the sacrament of confirmation, or are interested in being baptized into the Faith, or received into full communion with the Church, please contact the Pastor. Process will be discerned on an individual basis based on preparedness.
