A chairde,

I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to St Mary’s Parents’ Association for organising The Monster Family Bingo over the Easter Holidays. By all accounts it was great entertainment and a fun day was had by all. It was a huge undertaking and entailed many, many hours organising. A sizeable amount was raised for our new All-Weather Pitch. The exact amount raised is included later in this Imlitir. I would like to also thank Drogheda Credit Union, Trim Branch, for being our main sponsors and all the many businesses in Trim who sponsored raffle and other prizes. Thanks also to you, parents/guardians, for your continued support. We hope to start building the pitch before the end of this month, once the planning permission allows us to do so. We have employed the services of PST and they have already started the preliminary works. Our aim was to have it completed before the current First Class boys and Sixth Class girls have left, but this is no longer guaranteed. In any event, we will organise something next year for these and previous groups. Digital Fair: This year’s showcase will be on Thursday next, April 19th from 1.00 to 4.00 in The Dr Eileen Reilly Hall. Green News

Welcome back everyone to what we hope will be a nice pleasant last term! Our weather remains unsettled so we remind everyone to keep wrapped up and dressed appropriately for the cool temperatures and for rain. Our WOW initiative will continue on Wednesdays, whatever the weather. Meet up at Mornington House or at the Match Box at 9:00 am and the WOW teachers (so appropriately named!!) will escort walkers to the school. Once again a special word of thanks goes to those very dedicated teachers for keeping this campaign alive! Our Cycling campaign will resume once the weather improves. It’s not ideal for cycling just yet. In the interest of boosting the number of cyclists this year, we may select a particular day and encourage as many as possible to participate. It will be open to pupils in fourth class and upwards. Any younger pupils who would like to cycle to school must have an adult with them. Our Green delegation which took part in the St Patrick’s Day parade was awarded the Best Community Group this year. We certainly were among the hardiest anyway! The dancers’ legs were numb as were the fingers of the musicians as they played down at the market square. It was the coldest parade on record but it didn’t stop the pupils of St Mary’s! Our beautiful banner featured on social media and looked really splendid! Maith sibh go léir!

Don’t forget about our recycling at school. We accept batteries, cans, small plastic bottles, postage stamps, card, toilet rolls and mobile phones. Our sixth Global goal is clean water and sanitation for all. We take this so much for granted in our part of the world. Once again it is through our efforts in the advantaged part of the world contributing towards education and towards promoting cleaner water and sanitation in the developing world that will make a difference. We at St Mary’s will make every effort to help others in the poorer parts of the world.
