The IMC-APM18 computer system offers a ruggedsolution for a dedicated industrial controller systemwith an installed Pentium M processor for fanless op-eration. The IMC-APM18 is targeted at the miningand vehicular industries where a rugged design isrequired to survive the extreme temperatures andhigh shock and vibration environments.
The defining characteristic of this system is the 40o +70C operating temperature at 5 to 95% R.H.
Robust con-struction sup-ports 50Gshock and 5GRMS vibration .All electroniccomponentsincluding theCPU, SDRAMmemory, and32 MB flashmemory aresoldered onboard. Thesystem isequipped with
a heat pipe conduction cooling system for effectiveheat removal from the CPU and other critical com-ponents to the extruded aluminum housing.
The construction starts with a finned extruded alumi-num housing. This robust design allows fanless op-eration and provides high structural strength.
The Intel Pentium M Processor, running at 1.8GHz,provides good performance for the intended environ-ment. The Pentium M processor line is Intels ultra-ow power offering. 1GB of ECC DDR SDRAM with
ECC is soldered to the board. Storage options in-clude a 32MB SSD populated on the board with pro-vision for a compact flash card or 2-1/2 drive, eitherrotating media or SSD.
System I/O is very robust offering VGA graphics, anaudio port, two gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0,wo RS232 and two RS485 ports, and a parallel port.
Input power is 9 VDC to 30VDC. An external univer-sal input AC adapter provides 90 to 240VAC opera-ion. The DC input allows direct connection to ve-
hicular systems, either 12VDC or military 28VDC.
The IMC-APM18 supports a wide range of realtime(QNX, VxWorks, WinCE) and non-real time(Windows XP/XP Embedded and Linux) operatingsystems.
