WVS/NHS Basket Bingo Relay for Life
Students at Wishkah Valley
School got the chance to watch a
group of Chinese acrobats perform
at the school. The whole school
and community were invited. The
acrobats combined routines of
balancing, contortions,
foot-juggling, etc., with little
vignettes about Chinese culture,
schools, and customs. Their
colorful costumes, unique
background Chinese music, and
smiling faces added to their
amazing feats of acrobatics to make
the show something the students,
staff, and community members
talked about for weeks. They even
let a few students get involved with
the routines, which was an
enjoyable part of the show. It is the
11th year they’ve brought the differ-
ent & amazing acrobats to the U. S.

Dr. Seuss Day is March 2nd.
Every year, the elementary
students join students around
the world to celebrate Dr.
Seuss’s birthday by wearing
their pajamas to school and
bringing their pillows and
blankets so that they can lie
down in the gym with their Dr.
Seuss books and read. The
para-pros cooked green eggs
and ham. To help purchase
the food, students used funds
from their school accounts.
Each of the teachers read a
Dr. Seuss book to their
classes. The kids had lots of
fun reading to each other and
can’t wait for next year! One
of the elementary teachers,
Mrs. Erickson, actually met

the 4th to the 9th of April,
the 1st -12th grades of
Wishkah Valley School
had the chance to take
part in the preparation
and acting of the show
``King Arthur’s Quest``.
On Monday, two directors,
Hayley and Jocelyn, of the
Missoula Children’s
Theatre cast students of
all grades to make a
selection for the play. Every
day from 1 pm to 5:30 pm,
the students learned their
roles, lines, songs, and the
movement on the stage.
Almost entirely made up out
of middle school students,
the show seemed a little
challenging at first, but
divided into two groups,
goals were achieved very
quickly.
At 10 am on Saturday, the
group met at the Bishop
Center for the Performing
Arts in Aberdeen where the
play was going to be
performed. Costumes were
handed out, and after
everyone had turned into an
ancient character, it was
time for a final rehearsal.
With a few mistakes and
great excitement, the cast
went through it, until it was
time for the final show at 2
pm. Over 150 people showed
up and became part of the
medieval magic for about
one hour. Almost perfectly,
the show was performed,
and everyone had a great
time.

This year’s fastpitch team has been working diligently all season. Head coach Tove Reibel and assistant coach Wendy Olson have been working the girls hard. After their first couple game got cancelled, they were relieved
to get some nice weather and started playing. Pitcher Teagan Louthan, #13, and Shelby Reibel, #7, have been doing their best to strike out as many people as possible. It’s a joy watching these girls give it their all playing a great, fun game!

There is an opportunity for a
family to have a foreign
exchange student. There are
many rewards, fun times, and

Congratulations to the

improving facilities, and
dealing with new legislation

This spring, the Wishkah Valley
School got brand new lighting. All
of the district buildings’ lights were
either replaced or re-lamped with
new energy-efficient lighting. In
most all areas of the school, lighting
was greatly improved. Ameresco
Quantum was the project manager
and The Light Doctor was the
installer. There are approximately
300 new fixtures and 500 new
lights throughout the school
district. The project was paid for
by energy grants from the state
with some federal support and
some local utility rebates. The
rooms are noticeably brighter, and
they are now energy efficient.
