Description: Blanket, undyed wool, plain weave. Crepe effect from overspun yarn.

Description: Blanket, undyed and dark blue wool, twill. Twill plaid. Woven in pieces sewn in the center with 4-ply S

twist cotton, twill goes in opposite direction on the two panels. Center seam doesn't keep the continuity of

the pattern. The hem was sewn with 2-ply cotton overcast.

Date Made: Late eighteenth to mid-nineteenth centuries.

Description: Coverlet; red and blue wool, twill. The coverlet consists of two panels joined in the center with a butted

seam and overhand stitching. The seam is not original, although the design is well-matched. The top hem

is narrow and turned toward the back; coverlet has self-fringe on three sides. The central motif is a whig

rose alternating with a table consisting of four squares. The design gives the visual impression of an

overall pattern. There is a 5 inch border which has a pine tree motif.

Description: Summer and winter coverlet; blue and orange wool. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either

side; top and bottom hemmed. Central motif contains a table surrounded by a ring. Outside of the ring, at

each corner, there is a diamond motif. Lines within coverlet form overall diamond pattern.

Date Made: Late eighteenth to early nineteenth centuries

Description: Coverlet; undyed linen and brown wool, twill. The coverlet consists of two panels joined with a butted

seam using an overhand stitch. The seam is not original and the design is very poorly matched. The top of

the coverlet is hemmed. There is pattern weft fringe on the selvedge sides and warp fringe at the bottom.

The central motif consists of four large and nine small roses enclosed in a frame of ellipse-shaped

elements. The pattern appears to be a variation of the pattern called 'whig rose.' There is a 3 1/2 inch

border of wavy narrow lines on three sides.

Description: Overshot coverlet; undyed cotton with rust and green wool. Center seam joins two panels. Fringe with

leno added at sides and formed by warp at bottom. Central design elements occur in the rust and green

bands, which form rounded square blocks (similar to wagon wheels) separated by bands of color.

Coverlet is cut for four poster bed.

either side; hemmed top and bottom. Remains of a fringe can be seen on sides and bottom. Central motif

consists of large squares alternating with groupings of 4 smaller squares.

Date Made: Late eighteenth to mid-nineteenth century.

Description: Overshot coverlet; undyed linen, and green and gold wool. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on

either side; hemmed top and bottom. Central motif is a large gold table bounded on the diagonals by

smaller green squares. Visually, the green and gold colors create the impression of being uniformly

distributed throughout the piece.

Description: Coverlet; red, light blue, and dark blue wool, twill. The coverlet consists of two panels which have been

joined with a butted seam using an overhand stitch. The seam appears to be largely original, but it is not

well-matched. The top is finished with a narrow, turned back hem, the bottom has a self-fringe, and the

sides were originally weft fringed. The central motif is a block that incorporates four snowballs (one in

each corner) and a fancy table with a diamond pattern, which is in the center of the block. The blocks are

separated by bands and stripes incorporating identical design elements. The stripes of blue and red warp

are particularly effective because the color change coincides with completion of a design element. There

is an 8 inch border with pine tree design motifs.

Date Made: Late eighteenth to late nineteenth century

Description: Overshot coverlet panel; blue and gold wool. The panel is hemmed at the top and fringed at the bottom.

Sewing threads along the right margin provide evidence of another piece having been attached.

Comparatively small repeat and offsetting of main design motif creates the effect of an overall pattern of

squares (tables) enclosed by cross-shaped frames on a blue ground.

Date Made: Early to mid 18th century

Description: Coverlet; undyed linen and blue, blue-greens, and gold wool. Seam joins two panels, not quite in center.

One selvedge; three sides hemmed. Central motif is a warp design that is grouped with 1 to 5 strands

together forming different size blocks. The two blue-greens are alternated and the blue and gold are

alternated in stripes, no real repeat. Possibly was a rug, patched with material of the same.
