IDS GmbH in Ettlingen/Germany is a specialist for SCADA, telecontrol and automation systems, as well as station automation and protection systems and network management.

We offer products and services from one source and develop open, customer-oriented solutions based on industrial standards (Microsoft operating systems, transmission protocols from the IEC 60870 and IEC 61850 series etc.).

Thus, we are able to ensure the quick implemen- tation of projects based on the latest market requirements, as well as smooth and trouble-free IT integration.

Server and Control LevelOn the server level, you have high-end PC systems as hardware platform which have been hardened according to the latest security standards.

The system has a redundant structure, thereby ensuring a high degree of availability. We are also able to offer redundancy across distributed locations. The SCADA system allows for the integration of function servers for database applications, simu-lation and training tasks or advanced optimisation. On the control level, PC-based workplaces are installed; if necessary these workplaces also feature large-screen displays. The HIGH-LEIT terminal server ensures that the operator is able to work in his familiar SCADA environment - any time, any pla-ce, at his workplace or at home. Also, the web server enables the provision of information via internet.

The IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system

The HIGH-LEIT SCADA system from IDS is designed for application in energy and water supply systems, as well as wastewater, environmental and industrial applica-tions.

As an open system with Client-Server architecture, HIGH-LEIT not only offers standard SCADA functions, but also a variety of utility-related function modules and industry-specific solutions. Moreover, the system includes various interfaces for the exchange of data.

HIGH-LEIT is a flexible, modular system and therefore freely scalable with regard to its scope of functions, data model and hardware configuration.

Telecontrol and Automation

With the ACOS 750 automation and telecontrol device, IDS offers a powerful system for the highest standards.ACOS 750 is individually scalable, thanks to universal power supply units, powerful CPU modules and a wide range of I/O modules. On the basis of Ether-CAT® technology, these systems can be designed to have either a centralised or decentralised structure.

The ACOS series is complemented by the ACOS 710 and ACOS 720 compact modules which can also be scaled according to the specific requirements, and feature a broad range of communica-tion possibilities.

Finally, the ACOS 7 series is rounded off by the ACOS 711 device for data transmission via TETRA networks. It can be used for operation and monitoring in small-scale applications, e.g. for feed-in management in renewable energy/cogeneration plants, or in local exchange stations.

The ACOS 7 series

The telecontrol and automation technology from IDS GmbH features powerful devices and systems that have been specially developed for the demands of the utility industry. Their main focus is on user- friendly and efficient engineering and investment security. Moreover, the devices also fulfil IT security requirements in accordance with the BDEW white-paper.

The ACOS 7 series enables the configuration of open and freely scalable telecontrol, automation and communication networks, thanks to the multifarious communication features and different designs and a uniform software platform. Therefore, we are able to offer optimally customised systems for our customers’ respective requirements.

Parameterisation and Remote DiagnosticsThe ACOS ET engineering tool enables clear-cut and user- friendly parameterisation, programming and diagnostics of IDS telecontrol and automation devices and of IDS SAS station automation systems.

Solutions for Smart Grids and Renewable Energy Feed-in Management (EEG)

Meet current demands and future challenges

Whereas the production of renewable energy is booming, the conversion and expansion of power grids is still a slow process.

The majority of renewable energy generation plants feed their output into mean- and low-voltage grids; for an optimal control and exploitation of grids, ho-wever, the demand for smart grids is increasing.

IDS GmbH has developed products and solutions to solve the current problems and to ensure security of future investments in the installation and expansion of smart grids.

Feed-In Management The IDS portfolio includes uniform and consistent overall solutions, from control units of renewable energy/cogenera-tion plants to communication through to applications for the automated implementation of measures acc. to § 3.1 or §13.2 of the German Energy Law (EEG).

Apart from the classic telecontrol solutions, we also offer a solution for metering that is based on an additional device to be used in connection with the metering device, for the control of renewable energy/cogeneration plants.

The ACOS EEM application is designed for the implementation of requirements from higher-level grid operators – in keeping with the law and largely automatically. It carries out a discrimi-nation-free selection of plants, controls them and provides the required documentation for evidence purposes.

To ensure smooth and trouble-free operation of our customers‘ systems, we offer a variety of service contracts:

Hotline System Service with remote diagnostics and maintenance through the IDS Service Competence Centre in Ettlingen.

On-site System Service with staff on call duty for ser-vice assignments on site, as a supplement to the hotline system service.

IT SecurityIDS offers different types of service to protect network control centres against interferences from within and outside, such as:

Encryption of network communication and hard disks Hardening and patch management for network

components and computers Use of anti-virus scanners with up-to-date signatures Support for data backup and emergency plans

Hardware StockageOn the basis of the on-site system service, we offer the stocking of spare parts and function-compatible hardware. As an option, we also offer the possibility of exchange all PC and network components at least every five years as a preventive measure.

Preventive, Cyclic MaintenanceWithin the framework of this service agreement, error memories and system protocols are read out and im-portant system functions (e.g. switchover between main and backup computer, substitute pathways and system configuration) are tested on an annual basis. Furthermore, hardware components are serviced, fix and service packa-ges for operating systems are installed and an internal and external analysis of interfaces is carried out. Preven-tive maintenance also includes an anti-virus check of the system
