This two-week, 75-hour course prepares studentstotestforaMarylandCDL-Bfromthe MVA. This license qualifies students to operate heavy straight trucks (i.e., +26,000 lbs. GVW) and passenger buses. A “P” (Passenger) endorsement must be obtained to permit license holders in order to transport passengers commercially.CCBC’sCDL-Btrainingoccursprimarily on passenger bus equipment but successful licensees may also operate heavy straight trucks. CCBC does not train to obtain the “S” endorsement required to drive a school bus.StudentsmustholdavalidMDCDLLearnerPermitpriortoregisteringfortheCDL-Bcourse.

Introduction to Basic Diesel Mechanics—Coming Soon!Prepare for a job as a diesel mechanic. Employment of diesel service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow 12% from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations,accordingtotheBureauofLaborStatistics.Learnthebasicsystemsofadieselengine, preventive maintenance, trouble-shooting, diagnostics, record keeping, safety, use of specialized tools and shop procedures. Training includes 300 hours of combined classroom and hands-on training in a working repair shop. Prospective students have a high school diploma or GED and must attend an orientation session and pass a basic math and reading assessment test. Offered in partnership with Community College of Baltimore County.
