Some of the selections have an unasham-edly populist slant (our best selling title for 2014 was the ongoing Bat-man book and from that, one might feel that Scott Synder was best writer and Greg Capullo best art-ist. That is, I know, a very simplis-tic view, but readers have, in a way voted, with their money, so all three are in the respective categories), but voters will have the option to add their own choice via our online

On many a blog, awards such as these would be decried for ignoring the varied independent British com-ics market. Our stance on this is that our stores and mail order business comprises 99.99% US titles. For this reason our awards relate to this as-pect of the comic industry. The last few years has seen an increase in sales and readers of these titles and we want to celebrate this fact.
