order to Build on the Princi-
ples of Zeta While Blazing New Paths. In saying that, it is
paramount that the state of Illi-
nois continues to exhibit the
founding principles of Zeta Phi
Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
As the state of Illinois, we will
strive to increase membership
among the Youth and Amicae
Auxiliaries, as well as, amongst,
the Graduate and Undergraduate
Chapters. I ask you to keep in
mind that training and embellish-
ment are essential aspects of
sustaining and building member-

meeting for all Graduate Advi-
sors of the Undergraduate
Chapters.

Project
Aligning with Grand Basileus
Wright’s plan to focus on sen-
ior citizens as part of the Z-
Hope initiative, the state of
Illinois will donate items to the
Victory Centre of South Chi-
cago. Graduate Chapters and
Amicae groups are asked to
donate items equivalent to
$50.00 or contribute a dona-
tion in the amount of $50.00.
Undergraduate Chapters are
asked to donate items equiva-
lent to $25.00 or contribute a
donation in the amount of
$25.00. The
items are listed
to your left for
your convenience. Please make
checks or money orders pay-
able to Victory Centre of
South Chicago. The Z-Hope
Coordinator will begin collect-
ing your donations beginning

We hope you had a wonderful summer, and had a little time for rest, relaxation and the Boule’ too.
The state executive board meeting will take place on:

All elected and appointed officers are required to submit a written report and bring 40 copies for offi-
cers to review. Outgoing officers are requested to report on activities performed for the state since
the last state leadership conference. The reporting form was sent to the officers and committee chairs.
Please follow the outlined format and adhere to the report time limit. If you require an additional
reporting form, please feel free to reach out to me by email or telephone. Be advised that a written
report is required of each state elected and appointed officer regardless of attendance. If you are un-
able to attend the meeting, please notify the chair prior to November 5, 2012 at 773-392-7446 or sis-

Your participation in this process will help to bring together the information about our state’s history.
We are looking for:
Names of Past Directors, Associate Directors, and Illinois State Representatives at Large.
Names of Past Amicae Presidents and Officers.
Brief biographies about the aforementioned officers and their term in office, dates, chapters, etc.
Pictures, newspaper articles, past state leadership conference agendas, locations, etc.

of compiling a list of the websites
and social media pages for each
chapter. We would like to stay
abreast of what you are doing so
that we can share it! Please for-
ward the addresses of your chap-
ter’s social media pages, along with
any programs, newsletters, photo-
graphs or publications that you
would like us to share to illinois

ble. Please send us a copy of your
newsletter with 15 days of its distribu-
tion. In the coming weeks, look for a
brand new state of Illinois Facebook
page! Through this medium, we will
showcase and share the very best of
your news and programs. Along with
this new page, we will be using the information that you send to us to
build a better state newsletter. We
encourage each of you to send in the
best quality materials for inclusion in
various publications. One of my per-
sonal goals for this committee is to
increase the visibility of undergradu-
ates as viable powerhouses in our
organization. I welcome your ques-
tions and suggestions. We want you
to be as excited about the direction
we are moving, as we are.

Membership Intake Process Policy
ALL chapters are reminded to send a copy of the intake materials sent to the National First Anti-Basileus
to the State Director, concurrently. Failure to do this may delay your intake program approval. Undergraduate
chapters must have approval from their sponsoring graduate chapters prior to starting intake programs. Chapters
must pay chapter tax and assessments on all levels; complete the Anti-Hazing activities as outlined; and submit the
I990 Form before membership intake will be approved. Remember, only financial, MIP certified Sorors may partici-
pate in any of the MIP activities. The MIP dates for the fiscal year are September 1, 2012 - May 15, 2013.

Goals for the Leadership Academy:
Conduct workshops for Undergraduates and Advisors that will provide insight into many things we did not
know, many things that we need to strive for and many things we could change to make ourselves and Zeta
an even greater organization.
Establish not-for-profit tax status for the Academy training programs.
Collect information and create a database of Sorors who have expertise and can provide workshops in vari-
ous subject matters.
Keep the lines of communication open for Sorors to learn from each other at all levels.

state’s website as well. Please complete the forms correctly. Duplicate forms as necessary.
A late fee will be assessed on all payments postmarked after October 31, 2012. The late fee for chapter tax is $10.00
per chapter and the late per capita fee is $10.00 per Soror. Please do not mail financial reporting form to
the state for financial status at the leadership conference after October 28, 2012. All payments need to

The per capita and chapter taxes were due on September 15,
2012. It is imperative that chapters submit per capita and
chapter tax prior October 28, 2012 for processing.
All chapters should have submitted a bulk mailing address to
National Headquarters.
Membership Intake Certification Training
The Membership Intake Training will take place at the conclu-
sion of the state leadership conference.
Group and Chapter Photographs Upon arrival at the
leadership conference, attendees will receive a schedule for
photographs. Please remember to wear royal blue and/or
white (Sorors); powder blue (Amicae); and paraphernalia as
applicable (Youth) for the photo shoot. Chapter Basilei, Ami-
cae Presidents, and Youth Sponsors, please ensure uniformity
with your group’s attire for the photo shoot.
Best Conference Bag Contest! Sorors and Amicae are
being asked to bring a bag in order to compete into the Best
Conference Bag Contest, as well as, for usage during the
leadership conference. We will announce the winner of the
Best Bag Contest during the service luncheon.
Skate Jam and Card Party! Don’t forget to bring a change
of clothing in order to participate in the social activities at the
conclusion of the leadership conference. The event is an ex-
cellent opportunity to bond with members of the sisterhood
and the Amicae.
During the 2012 Illinois State Leadership Conference,
we will award and recognize Graduate Soror, Under-
graduate Soror, Amicae, and Youth of the Year. It is
important that individuals begin tracking their participation in
various events and workshops as related to this award. The
award period is June 9, 2012 through September 12, 2013.
Additional information will be conveyed in the near future.
Please Note:
Unregistered attendees will not be allowed to attend the business
sessions, workshops, or other related events at the Tinley Park
Convention Center.

On behalf of the Zeta Amicae across the great state of Illinois, I welcome each of you to the 2012 Illinois State Leadership Conference! A
special heartfelt welcome goes out to the Amicae auxiliaries who have been newly chartered or reactivated and those blue and white family
members who are in attendance with us for the very first time! I am sure you will enjoy the activities that will take place. I ask that you em-
brace the hard work that has been encountered by the Illinois State Executive Board and the chapters that have helped plan this event. I
charge each of you to actively participate in the meetings and workshops and to share information with others as you apply what you have
learned to your own lives. Zeta Amicae Sponsors, we look forward to seeing you in the Amicae workshops and business sessions.

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome the Amicae and all of the Blue and White family to the 2012 State Leadership Conference!
The Zeta Amicae have been working very hard over the past year and I look forward to sharing new ideas and encouraging one another to
excel in the year ahead.
We are very fortunate this year to have both the National Amicae Director and the Regional Amicae Coordinator with us as workshop pre-

Updates/Reminders for Zeta Amicae and Zeta Amicae Sponsors:

New Zeta Amicae Handbook (Second Edition, July 2012) – Each Auxiliary and sponsoring chapter should have a copy. They can be pur-
chased for $25 from the National Headquarters.
The official symbol for the Amicae is the clasped hand covered by the letter ―Z‖
without the ring.
Once an Amicae receives a college degree, she can no longer be an Amicae and
should transition to Zeta membership.
The sponsoring Zeta chapter should acknowledge the presence of Amicae in all
public appearances.
Zeta Amicae Sponsors must be ZOL certified.
Zeta neophytes cannot serve as Amicae Sponsors.
Sponsors must attend all Amicae regular, call, and committee meetings. If the
sponsor cannot attend, the chapter Basileus must attend the meetings.
The number of Amicae should never exceed the number of financial Zetas in the
sponsoring chapter.
State Dues:
State assessments are payable on site at the State Conference. Auxiliaries not financial by the State Conference will be
deemed a non-voting status for the conference.
Each Auxiliary is assessed dues of $200.00, regardless of number of active members.
Make checks payable to: Zeta Amicae Auxiliary-State of Illinois.
National Dues:
Amicae please be reminded that you’re National Dues for the 2012-2013 fiscal year becomes due and payable on July 1,
2012. Amicae dues are $15.00 per member. Auxiliaries may send dues directly to the NEW Bank of America lock box with
the NEW reporting forms.
