As I reflect on the relationships borne as a member of this

organization, I have come to realize how fortunate I have been to

be part of it. Without the contributions made by the members and

affiliates of this organization, our daily routines as automotive

educators would be far more difficult.

The crew at Lincoln Land held an exemplary conference in the fall

of 2013, truly deserving of applaud. I am forever grateful for the

experiences encountered at Lincoln Land.

I am appreciative of being able to serve this organization as a

member, officer, and past presenter. Furthermore, I cherish the

camaraderie exhibited by our members. I also appreciate being

given the opportunity to serve as your President 2013-2014, and

look forward to continuing a lifetime of memories, learning

experiences, and networking opportunities with ICAIA.

As I move on to my new role as a Board Member, I encourage all

members to make contributions that support the advancement of

the body of knowledge in the automotive service and management

industries.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the College of DuPage in

Treasury The Association is financially sound and the detailed treasury report will be presented during the Thursday Luncheon Business Meeting. Currently, the ICAIA Treasury is at $36,627.70 with expenses for the upcoming conference yet to be paid. ICAIA no longer prints membership cards. When you pay your membership dues, you will receive an e-mail from me (Art Koudelka - ICAIA Executive Treasurer) with your membership length (1, 3 or 5 years). Members can see their dues status on the conference registration form they receive in the mail for each conference. Their dues status is listed at the end of their name (G2011-2012 as an example). ICAIA Membership follows the school year and dues are paid in the Fall. So, this year’s ICAIA dues pay for the 2012-2013 school year.

ICAIA Thursday Evening Banquet Keynote Address Tim Clue

This is not your grandfather’s keynote. What the Flowbee did for the cheap haircut, or the Salad Shooter did for the needless tossing of greens, Tim Clue has done for rethinking what it means to communicate analogically in a digital age. This professor-turned-comedic-writer is geeked to expose what makes us most human, and he will speak fearlessly about the guilt of wasted time and why you should get rid of it. Not the wasted time, the guilt. Tim wants to help each of us regain the power of Failure and to live more comfortably with our insecurities and life’s little hiccups. This is a one-of-kind thinker who's not afraid to challenge his audience to have more fun, while still sharing some of life's best practices and timeless takeaways. So get ready to throw away the keys to logic and enjoy Tim Clue.

ICAIA Members are Invited to Attend NACAT 2014

Planning is well underway way for NACAT 2014 which will be held in Greenville South Carolina at Greenville Technical College during the week of July 21-25. Construction at Automotive Education Facilities in Illinois

Automotive training facilities in Illinois have been remodeled, added onto, or moved into new buildings over the past several years. ICAIA News has been featuring each of these new facilities and so far, we have profiled Joliet Junior College, Parkland College, and Lincoln Land Community College. In this edition of the ICAIA News, we are placing our focus on the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Profile on College of DuPage Facilities The College of DuPage Automotive Service Technology program is located in a recently constructed (2009) Technical Education Center. The Center houses many programs and has 29,000 square feet dedicated to the automotive program. The main automotive lab has 34 service bays. Other labs such as engine and transmission labs are adjacent to 4 dedicated automotive classrooms. 2 of the classrooms have in ground chassis dynamometers. Storage is always an issue for automotive facilities, so the facility has numerous areas to accommodate large items and provide for movement between the various rooms and labs. Come see these outstanding facilities during the upcoming ICAIA conference!

Thank You Lincoln Land Community College!

The 76th

semiannual ICAIA Conference was hosted at Lincoln land Community College (LLCC) in

Springfield, Illinois. The October 10th

and 11th

Conference had 145 pre-registered attendees and 19

walk-ins. The conference was well attended with a broad range of national and local vendors. The

seminars and vendor display tradeshow were a great success!

LLCC Auto Body student Skyler Cain and LLCC Automotive Technology student Hayden Roach were

awarded ICAIA Student Scholarships for their hard work both in and out of the classroom.

ICAIA would like to thank everyone at
