Cattlemen’s Boot Camp Hosted this March in FloridaRegister by March 2, 2015, to secure a place at the educational event.

Cattle producers are invited to gather for a Cattlemen’s Boot Camp March 9-10, 2015, at the Jackson County Agricultural Center in Marianna, Fla. The event is hosted by the Ameri-can Angus Association® in partnership with the University of Florida, and provides purebred and commercial produc-ers timely information presented by academic and industry professionals.

Registration is now available online and open until March 2, 2015.

“We are looking forward to hosting cattlemen in Florida this March for an extensive program aimed at improving oper-ations of all types. There is something for everyone,” says Ashley Mitchell, Association assistant director of events and education.

Open to all cattle producers, the event is funded by the Angus Foundation and features a day and a half of educational speakers and hands-on activities to help improve their herd operations. The workshop is packed with pertinent infor-mation including bull selection, reproductive technologies, genetic markets, forage management and much more.

Registration is $75 per person, and includes meals and

educational materials. Registration forms are due March 2, 2015, and can be submitted electronically by visiting www.ANGUS.org or mailed to Ashley Mitchell at the American Angus Association, 3201 Frederick Ave., Saint Joseph, MO, 64506. Late and walk-in registrations are not accepted.

‘Angus Night on the Mountain’ Earns $42,000Hosted at Spruce Mountain Ranch LLC, the event benefits Angus education, youth and research.

Spruce Mountain Ranch LLC in Larkspur, Colo., was the gathering place for many Angus enthusiasts on Wednesday, Jan. 14, for Angus Night on the Mountain during the National Western Stock Show (NWSS). Ten packages and one raffle item generated more than $42,000 in gross proceeds for the Angus Foundation to benefit its mission to support Angus education, youth and research.

“The hospitality provided by Tom and Lois Ames of Spruce Mountain Ranch for underwriting this event does not go unnoticed,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “Without the hard work of everyone involved, we would not be able to raise such generous funds that will impact the Angus Foundation’s initiatives to advance the future of our breed.”

Apply for the 2015 Beef Leaders InstituteSubmit applications by March 2, 2015, to be considered.

The Beef Leaders Institute (BLI) is a premier leadership experience for American Angus Association® members that provides a look into the entire beef supply chain, while enhancing participant knowledge of the Association and strengthening their leadership skills. Angus producers between 25-45 years old are encouraged to apply for the eighth-annual BLI scheduled for June 22-26, 2015. Applications are due back to the Association by March 2, 2015.

“The annual BLI is an impactful way to bring Angus breeders together to learn about their larger role in the beef cattle industry,” says Jaclyn Upperman, Association director of events and education.

The program brings Angus producers together in Saint Joseph, Mo., for a series of informative sessions, followed by a three-day tour across several industry segments. During the event, BLI participants are able to tour a beef harvesting and packing facility, retailer, fabricator, feedlots and other industry segments, including the American Angus Association. Those selected will also learn about the ultimate end product — the Certified Angus Beef® brand — and how the branded beef program drives demand for quality Angus genetics.
