PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEDear Parents, Staff and Students,

Assalamu Alaikum

Welcome back to all students and staff for the 2010 school year at Ilim College. I hope that you have had an enjoyable holiday and are ready for the new academic year. I would particularly like to welcome all new students and staff.

We celebrate the outstanding VCE results of 2009. We had a 100 % pass rate and 85 % of year 12 students were offered a tertiary place. Ilim College staff are extremely proud of the range of high achievements demonstrated not only the VCE level but also across the secondary and primary NAPLAN exam results in 2009.

I would like to inform you that we have commenced the construction of the new science and languages centre. The construction will be completed by August 2010. The new Multipurpose Hall building will be started in April 2010. The construction program is successfully proceeding ahead of schedule.

As the 2010 academic year gets underway, all students must actively develop the habit of work. It is important that students work each night and allocate study and revision time each weekend for their subjects. The assignments and other homework must be completed on time. Parents should monitor usage levels of internet, mobile phones and televisions. It is delightful to see our students begin the school year looking fresh and smart in full school uniform. As you know, the college blazers and skirt have changed. The new students and grade 3 students for 2010 must purchase the new uniform. Our last years’ students may use their old uniform until the end of 2010.

Policies on all dress codes and behaviour are clearly outlined in the student’s diary. We need and appreciate your total support to maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance of the students. Ilim College has zero tolerance for misbehaving students. If students breach any policies or rules at the school, they will be expelled straight away.

Ilim College is offering tutoring programs from grade 3 to year 12 VCE students after school hours and on Saturdays. You can get more information from Mr Selim Kayikci-Vice Principal.

I would like to meet many of our parents at information evenings over the coming weeks.

IMPORTANTAll EMA Applicants Please Note

A new application form for EMA needs to be completed and submitted at the College Office at the start of every year. Even if you are successfully applied for EMA in 2009, a new application needs to be filled for 2010. (Please note: successful 2009 EMA application DO NOT get automatically approved for 2010.)

The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is provided to assist eligible families with the cost associated with the education of their children.

To be eligable for EMA you must:

* be either a parent or guardian of a primary or secondary student up to the age of sixteen; and

* be an eligible beneficiary of a Centrelink pension, allowance or benefit within the meaning of the State Concessions Act 2004 or be a Veterans Affairs (TPI) pensioner or be a foster parent.

Applications close 26 February 2010. Application forms are available from the College Office. Pension/Health Care Card must be presented.

For 2010, the Education Maintenance Allowance paid to parents/guardians of primary students increased from $221 to $225 and for parents/guardians of secondary students from $443 to $450.

Parents will continue to have the option to receive the parent portion of the EMA paid by either direct deposit (EFT) into their nominated bank account or by cheque.

Mid March 2010 - Approximate date that parents choosing the EFT payment option will receive the 1st instalment EMA payment into their bank account.

Late March 2010 - 1st instalment EMA cheques expected to arrive at schools. Parents will be notified once the cheques have arrived.

Bus bookings are now finalised for 2010.

Please remember, all bus bookings are for a full year, however bus fees are charged each term.

In relation to sitting, standing and walking in the bus: All students must be well seated and have their seatbelts fastened whilst travelling on our buses facing the front at all times. There is to be no side sitting or kneeling on seats, standing and walking in the bus as this action is jeopardising the safety of the bus and its passengers. If a child accumulates any of the above offences 3 times, he.she will have their bus service cancelled immediately. Administration

Please be informed that as of the commencement of 2010 Academic year our school uniform will change. Uniform changes are only applicable to school blazers and skirts. The remaining uniform items will be unchanged, grade prep to grade 2 uniform will remain unchanged.

In 2010, grade 3 students will change their uniform from current track suits to skirts/pants, shirts and blazers. Therefore, they are expected to be in the new uniform. Our current students can continue using their current uniform until the end of the year, however they must purchase the new uniform prior to commencing 2011.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

All new applicants are required to purchase the new uniform.

Lost & Found is placed next to public phone infront of the office corridor. Please check for your items because at the end of each month they will be binned for hygiene purposes.

EXTENDED ABSENCES

Should your child be absent from the College for any reason for 5 consecutive days or more, the office should be informed and an “Extended Leave of Absence Form” must be filled out. Otherwise, student’s enrolment may be terminated. Parents should inform the homeroom teachers with notes or certificates of any absences less than 5 days.

If a student is absent half the term or more, considering that they have filled and lodged an “Extended Leave of Absence form” before the actual absence starts, half of their school fees will be reimbursed.

Please note that parent’s are responsible to finalize their account and return their library books and any other school belongings before they leave.

Any absence including overseas trips without notification to school in writing will result in payment in full.

Please note: If a student is absent or is on an extended leave for more then one school term, they will be required to undertake an exam. The results of this exam will determine whether the student is promoted to the next year level or repeat the current year level.

WRAPPER FREE LUNCHES & HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES

We are encouraging wrapper free lunches for Primary Students. We request that you provide your child with fresh fruits, sandwiches in reusable plastic bags, snacks in containers and water in a plastic take home bottle. Please consider healthy food options - sultanas, carrots and cucumbers cut up, rice crackers etc. Thank you for your support.

LATENESSPunctuality is essential at Ilim College. Students who are repeatedly late will be given after school detention or lunch time detention. Students must provide a note if they are late as a result of appointment or illness. If VCE students are late for a subject, it will be considered as an unapproved absence for that particular period.

ABSENCE NOTESIt is important that all students bring a note from parents explaining their absence or present a medical certificate.

PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOL EXCURSIONS

It is College policy that students will only be permitted to participate in school excursions if correct uniform is being worn and all expenses relating to the excursion have been paid in advance. For excursions outside the College area, parents will be provided with a special notice/consent form for each excursion. Verbal consent is not allowed. Parents must fill in the consent form, sign it and return it to the classroom/homeroom teacher.

CHANGE OF DETAILS

When you change your address, telephone number, custody issues or any other details, please inform the college office as soon as possible. Not providing correct details of your residential address and contact number will result in termination of your child/(ren)’s enrolment. Offıce Staff can not change details verbally.

MOBILE PHONES, iPODS, JEWELLERY

The above items are not to be brought to school under any circumstances. All these items will be confiscated if students disregard this rule and attempt to use phones. If parents need to contact students during the day, this must be done through the college phone 93023770.

STUDENTS WITH ASTHMA

Students with Asthma should carry their pump with them at all times. However, the school has spare pumps in the sick bay.

Students with Epipen should pass their Epipen to our school nurse Ms. Nese.

DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILDREN:Please ensure you have left your child’s class by 8:45am. Parents are asked not to occupy the teachers time with personal issues of their child in the mornings as classes begin at 8:50am.

A great deal of noise and disruption is caused at the end of the day with a build up of parents that enter the school early. We kindly ask parents to wait outside or in their cars if they arrive before 3:25pm. Thank you for your co-operation.

CHILDREN MUST NOT BE DROPPED OFF EARLIER THAN

8:15AM AND MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 4:00PM.

There is no supervision available before and after these times unless children are placed in after school care. For the safety of your child(ren) please ensure you adhere to the times.

TEN ADVICE TO YEAR 12 VCE STUDENTS FROM THE COLLEGE PRINCIPAL

1 - Act on teacher’s advice given in Unit 3 & 4. Listen to the teachers very carefully in class. You must have a daily and weekly timetable.

2 - Develop a daily routine of homework and study with a minimum of 24 hours of homework and revision being completed each week.

3 - Increase the level of communication with teachers, VCE Coordinator and Careers Advisor throughout all terms to solve problems as they arise.

4 - Be punctual to all lessons in the class every day.

5 - Work hard at school and at home. You must study 4 hours minimum every night. You can relax at recess and lunch time.

6 - Maintain the aim of achieving your personal best this year.

7 - Revise your daily study each evening and attempt to summarise them on a weekly basis.

8 - Try and keep fit and maintain a healthy diet.

9 - Read extra references, revision materials and study the previous years’ VCE exam papers.

10 - Learn all the questions in the text books and other references. If you do not understand any questions, you must ask your teachers. Study, study and study again. Success comes from more regular study habits.

BELL TIMES FOR 2010

This year, we have introduced a $30 bond for locks and keys to be collected by all Secondary Homeroom Teachers. This bond will be returned to the students at the end of the academic year. However, if the student misplaces their locker KEY, they will have to pay $10 to cover the cost of the replacement key. If the LOCK is lost/destroyed a fee of $30 will be charged to replace the lock. Please note, payment should be finalised by 19th of February.

The implementation of the 30M Active Families Sport Project at Ilim College aims to form an Active Families Sports Club to encourage all students from Grade 3-Year 12 including their families and local community to

participate in 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day. A varied sports

program will be promoted with tailored sessions for mothers and daughters — fathers and sons.

For each sport activities, specialists will be engaged to deliver various sporting clinics.

يفتخر طاقم التدريس بالنتائج الجيدة التي ُحّصل عميها ليس عمى مستوى الصف الثاني عشر فحسب . طمبة هذا الصف قد حازوا عمى مقاعد دراسية جامعية. بل عمى مستويات الصفوف األخرى الثانوية واالبتدائية ونذكر منها عمى سبيل المثال نتائج الرياضيات والمغة االنجميزية

المدرسية دلةيسرني مشاهدة بعض طالبنا و طالباتنا في بدلتهم المدرسية الجديدة وفي هذا الصدد فعمى الطالب الجدد وطالب الصف الثالث أن يشتروا الب.الجديدة ، ُيسمح لطالب السنة الماضية ارتداء البدلة المدرسية القديمة الى غاية نهاية السنة الدراسية الجارية فقط

بقاء السموك ى إتجدون في مذكرة التمميذ كل القوانين المدرسية التي تخص المباس المدرسي وسموك الطالب فنرجوا من األولياء مساعدتنا في هذا اإلطار عم

.كما ال يخفى عميكم أننا ال نسمح بالسموك الغير مشّرف الذي تكون عاقبته اإلقصاء من المدرسة مباشرة“ عمم”الحميدة و الهيئة الجيدة لطالب مدرسة

Eğer geçerli bir sağlık veya emekli kartınız varsa Eğitim Yardım Ödeneğine başvurabilirsiniz. Birinci dönem eğitim yardımını almanız için müracaat formunu okul ofisine 26 Şubat tarihine kadar teslim etmeniz zorunludur. Müra-caat formları okul ofisinden alınabilir.

Adres Değişikliği Adres ve telefon değişikliklerinizi lütfen en kısa zamanda okul ofisine bildiriniz.

Okul Üniformasıİlim Koleji Üniforması olan bir okuldur ve bütün öğrenciler okul üniformasını giymek zorundadırlar. Beden Eğitimi Üniforması Hazırlık sınıfından 10. sınıfa kadar mecburidir. 3. sınıfdan itibaren öğrencilerimiz etek ve ceket giymeleri zorunludur. Okulumuz bu sene yeni üniforma başlattı. Okulumuza yeni katılan öğrencilerin bu yeni üniformayı alması zorunlu olmakla beraber eski öğrencilerimizin sadece 2010 yılı boyunca eski üniformalarını giymelerine izin verilmiştir.

Üniforma ve Kitapçı Çalışma SaatleriÜniforma ve Kitapçımız hafta arası sabah saat 8:45 ile 10:00 arasi ve öğleden sonra saat 3:00 ile 4:15 arası açıktır.

Okul ŞapkalarıTüm İlk Okul öğrencilerinin teneffüs, yemek arası ve spor derslerinde okul şapkasını giymeleri zorunludur. Şapkasız olan öğrenciler dışarı bırakılmayacaktır. Özellikle sıcak günlerde öğrencilerin meşrubat yerine su içmeleri tavsiye edilir.

Okul Çantaları İlkokul ve Ortaokul öğrencileri okulumuzun çantalarını satın alabilir. Okul çantası İlkokul öğrencileri için mecbu-ridir.

Okul Günlük DefteriTüm Ortaokul ve İlkokul 4, 5 ve 6. sınıf öğrencileri, okul günlüğünü Kolej kitab satış yerinden almak zorundadır.

Öğrenci SaçlarıÖğrenciler okula doğal saçları ile gelmelidirler. Saçlarına jöle süremezler. Okul kurallarına uymayan öğrenciler der-hal evlerine geri gönderilecekdir.

Cep Telefonları, Diskmenler ve MücevherlerYukarıdaki eşyaların okula getirilmesi yasaktır. Eğer öğrenciler okul kurallarına uymayıp ve telefonları kullanırlarsa, telefon ve diğer eşyalar ellerinden alınacaktır. Eğer veliler çocukları ile irtibat kurmak isti-yorlarsa, 93023770 numaralı okul telefonu aracılığı ile yapmak zorundadırlar.

Okula Geç Kalmaİlim Kollejinde dakiklik çok önemlidir. Devamlı geciken öğrencilere öğlen arası ve okul sonrası ceza verilecektir. Öğrenciler gecikecekleri zaman, randevuları olduğu veya hasta olduklarına dair belge getirmeleri gerekir. Eğer VCE öğrencileri derse gecikirlerse, o ders için onaylanmamış gelmeme olarak sayılır.

Devamsızlık Yazısı Okula gelmeyen öğrenciler gelmedikleri günler için velilerin-den bir yazı veya doktor raporu getirmek zorundadırlar.

Okul Gezilerine Katılma Okul kurallarına göre, eğer öğrenciler doğru üniformalarını giyerlerse ve gezi masraflarıni önceden öderlerse okul gezile-rine katılabilirler. Okul dışındaki geziler için ailelere izin bel-gesi gönderilecektir. Sözlü izin kabul edilmemektedir.

Öğrencilerin Okuldan AlınmasıÖğrencilerin en geç saat 4:30 da okuldan alınmaları gerekir. İlim Koleji bu saatten sonra okulda kalan öğrenciler için her-hangi bir sorumluluk kabul etmemektedir. Prep ve 1. sınıf öğrencilerinin velileri çocuklarını sınıflarından almaları ge-rekmektedir.

12. Sınıf Öğrencilerine Ödül12. sınıf öğrencileri VCE derslerini başarılı olarak bitirip, 95 ve daha üstü üniversite giriş puanı alırlarsa, İlim Koleji okul konseyi tarafından ücretsiz olarak Hacca gönderil-eceklerdir. İlim Koleji öğretmen ve tüm personeli bütün VCE öğrencilerine başarılı bir eğitim yılı diler.

Hafta Sonu Kurslarıİlim Koleji Cumartesi günleri 3-12. sınıfa kadar hafta sonu dersleri verecektir. Bütün öğrencileri bu kurslara katılması teşvik edilir. Özel derslerimiz günlük $10 olmakla beraber 13 Şubat’da başlayıp 20 Mart’da son bulacaktır. Ayrıntılı bilgi için ofise başvurabilirsiniz.

Uzun Dönem Ayrılma İzin Formu5 ya da daha fazla süre için okuldan uzak kalacak öğrenciler ya da yurt dışına uzun dönem olarak gidecek öğrencilerin form doldurarak ofise bildirmeleri gerekmektedir. Aksi takdirde öğrencilerimizin okul kayotları okul idaresi tarafından silinebilir. Ayrıca, okul ödemelerinde indirim alabilmek için bu formun önceden doldurulması gerekmektedir.

Okul Otobüs Servisi2010 yılı için servis kayıtlarımız dolmuştur. Kayıtlar yıllık olarak yapılmaktadır. Servis ücreti senelik olarak hesaplanmakta ve her dönem ödeme yapmanız gerekmektedir. Okul ödemelerinde okul servisi için indirim verilmemektedir. Okul servis aracı içerisinde kurallara uymayan öğrencilerin servis kullanma hakları iptal edilecektir.

Sayın veliler, öğrenciler ve okul personeli,

İlim Koleji olarak, 2010 eğitim ve öğretim yılında bütün öğrenci ve okul çalışanlarımıza hoşgeldiniz demek istiyorum. Umarım hepiniz iyi bir tatil geçirip yeni okul yılına başlamaya hazırsınız. Ayrıca yeni başlayan tüm öğrenci ve öğretmenlerimizede hoşgeldiniz demek istiyorum.

2009 VCE sınıfının göstermiş olduğu mükemmel başarıdan dolayı kutluyoruz. Öğrencilerimizin % 100’ü VCE’yi tamamladı ve %85’i üniversiteye girmeye hak kazandı. İlim Koleji çalışanlarımız olarak VCE öğrencilerimizin sağlamış oldukları başarının yanı sıra 2009 ortaokul ve ilkokul NAPLAN sınavlarında elde edilen başarı sonuçlarından dolayıda gurur duymaktayız.

Yeni Fen Bilimleri ve Dil Eğitimi binasının inşaatına başlamış olduğumuzu sizlere bildirmek isterim. İnşaat 2010 Ağustos ayında tamamlanacaktır. Çok amaçlı kullanılmak üzere yeni bir salonumuzun yapımına 2010 Nisan ayında başlanılacaktır. İnşaat programı beklenilenden daha hızlı bir şekilde başarıyla devam etmektedir. 2010 akademik yılının başlamış olduğu şu günlerde bütün öğrencilerimiz sistemli bir çalışma planı yapmalıdır. Öğrencilerimizin her akşam ödevine çalışması ve haftasonunda derslerine yeteri kadar zaman ayırması çok önemlidir. Kendilerine verilen ödevlerin zamanında yapılarak teslim edilmesi gerekmektedir. Veliler çocuklarının internet kullanımını, telefon kullanımını ve televizyona ayıracakları zamanı sürekli kontrollü olarak takip etmelidir.

Öğrencilerimiz yeni okul yılında tam üniformalı olarak okula başladıklarını görmekten çok memnunuz. Bildiğiniz gibi bu sene okul ceketi ve kız öğrencilerin okul etekleri değişmiş bulunmaktadır. Yeni kayıt olan öğrencilerimiz ve 3. Sınıf öğrencilerimiz 2010 yılı içinde yeni okul üniformasını almak zorundadır. Geçen seneki öğrencilerimiz eski üniformalarını 2010 yılı sonuna kadar kullanabilirler.

Kılık ve kıyafet hakkındaki bütün kurallar öğrenci günlüğünde açık olarak belirtilmiştir. Öğrencilerimizin okul içindeki kılık kıyafetlerinde ve aynı zamanda hal ve hareketlerinde yüksek standartları devam ettirebilmemiz için sizlerin tam desteğine ihtiyacımız var. Okul içindeki öğrenci davranış bozukluklarına kesinlikle tolerans gösterilmeyecektir.Okul kurallarına uymayan öğrenciler okuldan derhal çıkarılacaktır.

İlim koleji olarak 3. Sınıftan VCE 12. Sınıf öğrencilerimize kadar okul sonrası ve haftasonlarında kurslar verilecektir. Daha geniş bilgi almak için ortaokul müdür yardımcımız Selim Kayıkçı beyle irtibat kurabilirsiniz.

Bütün velilerimizi gelecek haftalar içinde düzenlenecek olan Bilgilendirme Gecelerinde aramızda görmek isteriz.
