Background

• MAP Task Force – Illinois General Assembly – 2013• Concluded that students would benefit

from additional advising.• Established MAP Advising Workgroup

• MAP Advising Workgroup• Promote retention and degree completion

among MAP recipients• To improve outcomes for students, in

particular, MAP students.

Background

• MAP recipients graduate at same rate as other students attending the same school.

• Room for improvement• Increase the number of students that finish

their programs in a timely manner

Background

• Offering additional support for students, especially those receiving MAP, who are often 1st generation students with preparation and adjustment issues will increase the likelihood of success for these students.

MAP Institutions will…• institute programs to enable them to

meet the following goals:• Realize a 5 percent improvement in

graduation and completion rates over the next 6 years

• Realize a reduction in achievement gaps by 25% over the next 6 years.

students and• provide mandatory advising for first year

students and students that are part of the at-risk population.

• Provide a description of advising and support programs to ISAC annually.
