INTEC International Projects

Superior & Sustainable Metals Production

Company Overview

Intec International projects is an Australian company with patented hydrometallurgical technology plus a range of know-how and infrastructure for the recovery of base and precious metals from a wide range of mineral and industrial resources.

Intec is a world leader in the field of chloride hydrometallurgy with an extensive portfolio of international patents. Intec is successfully applying its technology to the mining companies on a wide range of Australian and international minerals processing projects and recycling of heavy metals from industrial wastes in Australia and worldwide.

The Intec Process

• A cheaper, cleaner alternative to conventional smelting for base metal mineral feedstocks .

o Particularly low-grade, polymetallic and/or contaminated mixed concentrates.

o High technology for recovering of metals from sulphiedic materials

o It also offers a non-cyanide alternative for gold-bearing concentrates.

• The Intec Process can produce valuable metal products from waste materials that would conventionally be disposed to landfill.

• In many industrial waste recycling applications, the Intec Process can offer a zero-waste recycling option.

Supported by over 200 international patents across seven patent ‘families’, the Intec Process can extract and recover copper, lead, zinc, nickel, gold, silver and other base and precious metals from a wide range of materials.

$ By-Products

Processing minerals and recycling industrial wastes

• Cyclic process

• Leach the metals into solution

• Extract by-products if appropriate

• Recover products as high grade metal and/or chemical intermediates

• Highly flexible and adaptable to various feedstocks

The Intec Process

Able to extract and recover metals from mineral feedstocks and industrial wastes

• Copper

• Zinc

• Lead

• Gold

• Silver

• Nickel

• Indium, scandium, molybdenum and other useful metals

Advantages of the Intec process

• Able to economically treat low grade mineral concentrates.

• Able to economically treat polymetallic concentrates in a single process.

• Able to recover by-product value from important minor metals contained in concentrates.

• Able to economically treat contaminated feeds.

• Able to economically treat mixed base and precious metals feeds.

• Able to economically treat metal-bearing industrial wastes.

• The Intec Process residue is clean and environmentally stable.

• Operates at atmosphere pressure and at temperatures <100°C.

Intec Research

INTEC has experience and expertise across a range of technologies, applying the best combination proven and cutting-edge technologies to suit each project that it develops. Intec spent over US$70m advancing the technology to commercial readiness. The process and design engineering of team at Intec is able to provide process flowsheet development, flowsheet modelling, in-house process evaluation testwork (laboratory, piloting and demonstration scale), scoping/feasibility studies, and financial modelling for hydrometallurgical minerals processing projects. Often a combination of common base and precious metal hydrometallurgical circuits can be combined with proprietary Intec technology circuits, for example the production of zinc sulphate crystals would involve an Intec halide leach, solvent extraction, and then crystallisation from sulphuric acid brine. The team has gathered significant experience in testing and developing over 50 projects in the past 15 years, for gold, copper, silver, lead, zinc, nickel, cobalt, indium, and platinum. The testing has focused on agitated leaching circuits, purification techniques (cementation, solvent extraction, ion exchange resins, and precipitation), and product recovery (electrowinning, sulphidisation, and precipitation).

Awards

Finalist, Sulo Environmental Awards Results to be announced 22 July 2010

Winner, Manufacturer’s Monthly Endeavour Awards May 2010

Finalist, Banksia Environmental Awards Eco Innovation Category, July 2009

Runner-up, Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence Small Business Sustainability Category, June 2009

Winner: Technology of the Year Award Excellence in Exploration & Mining, 2005

Advantages:

Economical at small or large scale

Highly environmentally attractive

Low energy and low water consumption

No liquid effluent

Waste air, water vapor and carbon dioxide are scrubbed prior to venting

Same residue as copper process that has EPA licence

Highly tolerant of impurities – particularly manganese

Upstream savings – can treat low grade complex concentrates, facilitates higher metal recovery

Corporate Opportunities

Intec is currently seeking strategic partners to license unlock value from mining and mineral projects opportinities Our company can offer our partners: • Intec’s innovative technology, • Intellectual property, • Know how, • Project development expertise and • High-class testing and demonstration facilities, to work with companies with the financial and project resources to capture and unlock value from mineral assets and industrial wastes that are currently substantially undervalued.
