Paraphrasing : (Question 71 – 75)
Read the passage below and answer the
questions that follow based on your
understanding of the passage.
Theory that is implicit, alternatively called
practice theory or practice wisdom, makes
assumptions about what social workers do
and how they make sense of their
experiences. This explains in an organised
way how social workers may usefully act,
using their knowledge of the social world.
England (1986) argues that a social worker’s
‘practice knowledge’ involves a unique
understanding of the people who constitute
the clients, ‘the general processes of
perception and the creation of meanings
which determine the individual’s capacity to
cope’. However, in responsing a
commonsense approach, England is being
neither a theoretical nor antitheoretical, but
argues that ‘defined knowledge is not enough
in its own. Professional learning has to be
accompanied by or mediated though
‘personal’ knowledge which is reinforced by
Parton.
71. What is the alternative name of ‘Theory’ ?
(A) ‘Practice theory’
(B) ‘Practice wisdom’
(C) Model
(D) ‘Practice theory’ and ‘Practice
wisdom’

(C) Knowledge and perceptions of
people
(D) Skills of social work
73. What is the opinion about ‘Practice
theory’ ?
(A) It is enough to practice
(B) It needs personal theories
(C) It needs both ‘practice theories’ and
‘personal theories’
(D) It is not at all useful
74. Who are the critique of “Practice theory” ?

(B) Parton
(C) England and Parton
(D) Hamilton
