    The keyis the ignition

    About the only time that our life actually pauses is thatmoment when we turn the key in the ignition. We pauseas we wait for the engine to start.

    And this pause will change your life.

    The bell rings, the dog salivates

    Were going to marry a conditioned response to startingyour car. But instead of salivating like a dog, you aregoing to say something magical to yourself.

    Every single time you start the car, you will say something

    very specic.After twenty or so car starts, it will become automatic.You will say this magical message to yourself automaticallywith no more effort on your part. El-zippo.

    Turning the key will trigger you to salivateI mean, itwill instantly spark your body, mind, and spirit with thatmagical message.

    Thats the beauty of a conditioned response.

    The Post-It Notewill be your reminder

    You will put a tiny little Post-It Note on the dashboardof your car. Right next to the odometer where you cansee it every time you start the car.

    That will remind you to say your magical message whenyou turn the key.

    Within a couple of weeks you can remove the Post-It Note, because your message will be wired in. Yourgenius mind will send you the message automatically; itwill spark your internal engine.

    Theres that conditioned response again.

    And the magical message is

    Here comes the fun part. You get to now determine your ownmagical message. It might be an afrmation. It might be yourgoals. It might an expression of gratitude. It might be a prayer.

    It might be related to your career or your nances. Maybe

    your spouse (or nding a spouse!). It might be related to yourchildren, your friends, your health, your spiritual growth.

    Well spend the next few pages talking about some of thepossibilities.

    As you read the pages, be thinking about how the ideasmight work for your life. Youll want to adapt one of myideas so that it works for you. You might even come upwith a totally fresh one yourself!

    And then you can write Ignition II.

    Option 1:Your Choices

    What do you choose for your life? The very rst time Iused Ignition was for my personal choices.

    I turned the key, the car started, I paused, and I

    repeated in my mind:

    I choose unconditional love and support.

    I choose abundance in all areas of my life.

    I choose freedom.

    I choose total peace of mind.

    I choose ow.

    I choose perfect healthand well-being.

    I choose God.

    I choose to be true to myself.

    force in my life.

    It took all of 15 seconds. Soon I was afrming theseimportant choices two, three, ve, seven, ten times aday. Every time I hopped into my car!

    Make your list, and memorize it. Then write MyChoices on a Post-It Note. Stick it in your car. Practiceit once.

    If your memory needs help, write your choices on acard that you can easily pull out when you start your car.Theyll be memorized in short order.

    Option 2:Your Goals

    As you turn the key, recite your four top goals for theyear. They could be:

    My income is 25% higher by January 1.

    Every time I arrive home I greet my honey with a big smile.

    I eat six to ten servings of non-starchy vegetables everysingle day.

    I meditate at least four days each week.

    Change to different goals or a different Ignition option whenyou are completely on track for achieving your goals.

    Option 3:Drop a special quality

    into your lifeThis is what Im doing currently, and I absolutely love it.First, I chose three qualities that I want in my life: Love,

    Joy, and Peace.

    When I start my car I imagine that Im in a great sea allaround me. Then I drop a drop of Love into the sea. Isee and feel it ripple through me and all of the sea.

    Then I drop a drop of Joy into me and the sea, andeverything changes to the colors and feelings of Joy.

    Then I drop a drop of Peace into me and the sea, and

    everything changes into the colors and feelings of Peace.

    The rst few times that you drop drops, plan on spending

    20 seconds to a minute for each drop so that you can fully

    experience the phenomenon. I spend only 5 seconds adrop todaythats 15 seconds for the whole process!

    What a way to live life. Every time I go some place in my

    car, I bring those qualities with me. And they dont stay

    in my car. They follow me around.

    My Post-It Note says Love, Joy, Peace. What qualities

    would you like? Here are my favorites: Power, Wisdom,

    Purity, Balance, Harmony, Forgiveness, Clarity, Focus,

    Abundance, Transformation,Empowerment, Compassion,

    Tenderness, Transparency,

    Honesty, Passion, Release,

    Celebration, Magnicence,Collaboration, Faith,

    Kindness, and Happiness.

    Option 4: Breathe

    Have you ever heard of your vagus nerve? It starts in

    your head and runs all the way through your abdomen,and it is perhaps the most interesting nerve in your body.

    Activate your vagus nerve and your blood pressure and/or heart rate will drop. It helps calm your mind and turn

    on a cascade of healing that can reverse depression. It canhelp sharpen your mind, making old brains young again.

    Simply take a deep and gentle breath in, hold it forthree or four seconds, and then slowly exhale.

    Do this three times, and then drive away. I guarantee thatanxieties of the day will diminish and youll feel calm andin control. Within a month, friends and family will noticea shift in you.

    All you have to do is start your ignition!

    Option 5:Gratitude

    Express gratitude throughout your day and you will behappier, healthier, more balanced, and well-rested.This attitude of thankfulness and appreciation attracts

    all good into your life.As you start your car, think, speak, and feel gratitude forone thing in your life. And then another. And another.Keep going for 15 to 20 seconds. Get as many in as

    possible. And with each car start, begin fresh.

    I am grateful for having this wonderful car.

    I am grateful for this beautiful day.

    I am grateful for my health and well-being.

    I am grateful for my family and friends.

    Be spontaneous. Be sincere. Be grateful for everythingin your life. Its a powerful emotion.

    Option 6: Prayer

    Use this time for prayer. Here are three of my favorites:

    Lord, Grant me the serenity to accept the things Icannot change. The courage to change the things I can.And the wisdom to know the difference.

    Grant me light in my heart, light in my eyes, light inmy ears, light to my right, light to my left, light aboveme, light beneath me, light before me, light behind me,light around me.

    My dear Guardian Angel, you were given to me by Godto be my faithful companion throughout my life. I honor

    you and love you as my most devoted friend, whom God

    has entrusted to take care of my immortal soul. I thankyou for your love and your constant care with all my heart.

    Option 7: Afrmation

    Afrmations are powerful tools for transformingintentions into realities. When creating an afrmation,follow these six guidelines: 1) write in the present tense, 2)make a positive statement, 3) use action verbs, 4) be briefand concise, 5) include words that mean something to you,

    and 6) make the afrmation for yourself, not others.

    When you start your car, close your eyes and reciteafrmations. Engage all of your senses to imagine thateach afrmation is real, true, and a reection of the lifeyou are creating.

    I design my destiny.

    I am full of prosperity and abundance.

    I enjoy endless opportunities.

    When to shift toanother option?

    I did my choices from Option 1 every time I started mycar for a couple of years.

    Ive been dropping drops of Love, Joy, and Peace for

    many months now, and I have no desire to change. Atsome point I will.

    Youll know when it is time!

    This will always work, except

    Ive been doing this since 1987. I expect Ill be doing

    this forever. It is too easy, the benets are so rich, and ithas enhanced my life in ways I cant describe.

    Butthere is a time when the Ignition might not work.

    After a vacation!

    It seems that whenever I return from a vacation I haveto remember to use the Ignition. When I go away ona good vacation, I empty my mind. When I return, I

    remind myself to get it going.

    When returning from a vacation or trip, be vigilantabout your Ignition. Remember to begin it again!
