    WlcomeIgniting Ambition Festival 2011 Northamptonshire is a uniquefestival for the county that showcasesa diverse range of projects beingdelivered across the county as partof the Cultural Olympiad programmein the East Midlands.

    The programme has been designedto engage young people and localcommunities through exceptionalcultural projects, events and festivals

    that celebrate the countys richcultural heritage, outstanding naturalenvironment and hidden gems.

    The festival therefore introduces anumber of new ambitious projectsand partnerships such as FLOW,Formula Fashion and SHINE andpresents a fantastic opportunity toshowcase and promote the verybest of the countys cultural assetsto local, regional, national andinternational audiences in advanceof the London 2012 Olympic andParalympic Games.

    The programme has been madepossible through funding from LegacyTrust UK and the European RegionalDevelopment Fund, with support fromkey partners Arts Council Englandand Northamptonshire CountyCouncil, and many others.

    Legacy Trust UK is an independentcharity set up to create a culturaland sporting legacy from the London2012 Olympic and Paralympic Gamesacross the UK.

    CLIX is an innovative and excitingdigital photography project thatencourages participants to explorethe values and themes of theCultural Olympiad and London2012 and promote the countyskey cultural and sporting assets.

    The project workshops will beprimarily delivered throughNorthamptonshires Study Centreswhich include Northampton SaintsRugby Club, Northampton TownFootball Club, NorthamptonshireCricket Club, Rushden andDiamonds Football Club, SilverstoneRace Circuit and Adrenaline AlleyUrban Sports Park, Corby.

    The general public are alsoencouraged to submit their ownphotos that marry the countys keycultural and sporting assets and thethemes and values of the Olympics.

    SHINE will celebrateNorthamptonshires medievalheritage through several of its ancientand historic Grade I listed churches.

    Informed through local researchand participation, SHINE will providean online repository of heritageinformation to include trails, photos,videos, music and stories connectedwith the church and its associatedtown or village.

    SHINE will culminate in theautumn of 2011 with a series ofoutdoor multi-site illuminatedexhibition events.

    Mad About The Seasons is a digitalarts project expressing a sense ofplace and identity for communitiesin the 21st century, around issuessuch as sustainability, climatechange, and our rural and culturalheritage.

    Inspired by Vivaldis The Four Seasonsand by the Northamptonshire poetJohn Clare, Fiori Musicali juxtaposethe traditional with the new, engaging

    audiences with music and poetrythrough the digital arts.

    Fiori Musicali work with MonicaFernandez (Film & Photography),Patrick Bond (Poetry), Julian Partt(Environmentalist & Photography),and Sean Clark (Interactive Arts) inan array of participative events andcelebratory occasions.

    nd materials used in the motorport industry.

    Utilising Silverstone Circuitsnternational reputation for excellence,nd using leather as one of their

    primary materials, ve talentedrtisans from across the UK, have

    been commissioned to produce aange of new works inspired by theountys traditional leather and

    motorsport industries.

    Formula Fashion represents a newnique cultural partnership for theounty which includes Silverstone

    Circuits, Northamptonshire CountyCouncil, University of Northampton,Design Factory, SouthNorthamptonshire Council andNorthamptonshire Enterprise Limited.

    The Formula Fashion exhibition atSilverstone will be open to the publicduring event opening times each day(approximately 8am6pm).

    For the Silverstone exhibitions,access will be free to all motorsportevent ticket holders. Tickets forthese events are available fromwww.silverstone.co.uk

    Following exhibition at Silverstoneduring the MotoGP, Formula 1 andClassic, the new pieces will beexhibited at the University ofNorthampton Gallery, NorthamptonMuseum and Art Gallery and TheHub, the National Centre for Craftand Design, Sleaford.

    The Lyric Lounge is a season ofmini-festivals celebrating spoken

    word in transformed spaces. Thisyear the Lounge will tourNorthamptonshire, Lincolnshire andRutland, where lead artists will becommissioned to write inspirationalpieces of work.     Night Run Northampton is the UKsrst dedicated night running event

    with a twist. Participants will beencouraged to run or walk a 3kmtown centre circuit that takes in allof Northamptons key culturallandmarks at night.

    This years London 2012 OpenWeekend will start the countdownto one year to go to the start of theOlympic Games, as we welcome theworld, showcasing the best of whatthe UK has to offer in art, dance,music, lm and sport.

    In 2010 Northamptonshire had astaggering 21 Open Weekend, the

    joint highest in the East Midlandsregion and more than severalneighbouring counties. This yearwe want to go one better.

    Open Weekend events and activitiesare currently being planned acrossthe county with a highlight this yearincluding a free Film Al Fresco eventat the Althorp Estate that includeshave-a-go sport activities, award-winning short lms by the countysyoung lm makers, access for up toeighty people to the main house anda mass participation dance event aspart of Blaze!

    The public will also be encouraged tobring a picnic, enjoy the grounds andview lms on a large outdoor LEDcinema screen.

    Planners are also hoping for anappearance by one of the ofcialOlympic mascots.
