WARNING

This handbook is a technical handbook to manage IFSC Resultservice, not a Rules handbook.

All the examples used in this handbook in any kind of competition (method of preparing starting lists, quota for

each round, tied competitors, superfinal etc.) may be based on unupdated rules.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Why IFSC Official Result Service?

Sport Climbing needs visibility: to use an Internet based Result Service gives to all the competition an immediate visibility all over the world in real time.

The use of this Result service let also all the Federations have all the ranking updated at the end of the competition.

How to Log in?

Type in the Internet bar: http://www.ifsc-climbing.org/egroupware/login.php

Every Jury President has a personal USERNAME / PASSWORD to enter in IFSC Result Service.

If you have forgotten your password or your login click LOST PASSWORD or LOST LOGIN ID and follow the information

When you are correctly logged in your name is written in the upper right corner, close to date and time.

Who is allowed to manage Result Service?

Only Jury Presidents (better, JP usernames) who have been appointed for that competition can manage Result Service.

The link between appointed Jury President and competition is made by IFSC Web Manager.

When you are appointed for a competition please check, a couple of days before the competition, that you are allowed to manage that competition: you can easily understand it because when you enter in that competition you can see in the main

menu these ADD A NEW HEAT BUTTON.

If you don’t see these button you are not allowed to manage this competition!

If you realize you are not allowed to manage Result service in a competition where you have been appointed please send immediately an email to [email protected] explaining the problem (this can happen especially if the Jury President has been changed at the last minute).

How to change current password?

Click on PREFERENCES

How to print?

This program hasn’t a specific printing function: you can print in any moment using the printing button of the browser, normally identified by this icon .

When you use this icon the program prints all the additional information (name of the judges, opening and closing of the isolation, date and time etc.).

How to use IFSC Result service also with problems in the Internet connection?

When you create the first heat you can see also this DOWNLOAD BUTTON. Using this button you can, in any moment of the competition, download what you are seeing in the window in that moment (starting list / result list). Take care: unpublished data cannot be downloaded. All the data will be downloaded as Excel file.

Using this Excel file you can manage locally your Result service, but without modifying the structure of the Excel sheet if at the end you want to upload the resultlist into the Result service.

When you upload your results file the system checks if everything is correct and, if the check is ok, let you import the file. If there is something wrong you will be informed about it.

The DOWNLOAD BUTTON can also be used by organizers to manage a further Result Service.

How to log out?

When you have finished managing Result Service you can log out using the Logout button on the main Result Service bar.

The uploading can be easily done using the EDIT THIS HEAT button / UPLOAD

Now you have to generate the starting list for the category you have selected.

Insert in this window, according to the rule and to the official timetable, all the information the program needs to manage this heat.

It keeps the existing starting order but randomizes the new registered competitors (since the last creation of the startlist. If the startlist is created only once all competitors are randomized)

The starting order of all climbers is randomized but, if there are two or more qualification routes, the athletes are allocated in each route according to the current World Ranking

• Random (distribution cup)

The starting order of all climbers is randomized but, if there are two or more qualification routes, the athletes are allocated in each route according to the current Cup Ranking

• Ranking (unranked last)

The startlist will be created according to the ranking (the best is first) and unranked climbers will start after ranked climbers. The starting order of unranked climbers will be randomized

• Reverse ranking (unranked first)

The startlist will be created reverse to the ranking (the best is last) and unranked climbers will start before ranked climbers. The starting

For each competition is defined a fixed quota for each team: some extra quota athletes can be registered according to the rules. When you select All complimentary all the authorized extra quota is inserted into the starting list

Choosing Resultlist it is possible to insert the

climbing results

When you insert the results you can update

a single result

or all the results.

TAKE CARE If you update all the results

at the end of data entry and in the

meanwhile the PC loses the Internet

connection you lose all the data since the last

updating!

When the provisional results have been checked and , if necessary, modified use the EDIT THIS HEAT button to confirm the results.

The results are (provisionally) ranked

every time that the data are updated.

To check the result with the route judge you can sort by start number just clicking

this column

If you sorted the athletes by start number before changing the status to OFFICIAL, now you have to sort again by rank before seeing the black line.

If an appeal against Official Results is accepted you have to modify the Official results.

As seen before in case of an accepted appeal it is possible to change the official results:

1. Push the EDIT THIS HEAT button 2. Change the status of this heat to UNPUBLISHED 3. Modify the appealed result 4. Change the status of this heat to RESULT OFFICIAL 5. Print it again

Insert into this window, according to the rule and to the official timetable, all the information the program needs to manage this heat.

How can you solve this problem?

Open again the window using the EDIT THIS HEAT button.

This is the wrong Startlist (all the

athletes in Superfinal)

Use the DELETE button to cancel the

Superfinal heat.

Now you have to create correctly a new heat (superfinal): in this heat only the two tied competitor at the first place will compete.

Go back using the multiple choice button to STARTLIST / FINAL and click the EDIT THIS HEAT button.

Write 2 (the number of tied competitors in the first

place) as quota who will proceed to the following

heat (superfinal) and save

Bouldering competitions have a format very similar to Lead competitions: the only difference concerns the way to insert results.
