Welcome to IFRA United Kingdom

IFRA UK was originally constituted as the ‘British Aromatic

Compound Manufacturers’ Association’ in the 1940s,

to help tackle common problems of quality and supply.

Today IFRA UK tackles different challenges in order to aid

members and, whilst our remit is much broader, the goals

remain the same.

The most recent estimates of the size of this very special

industry show that sales of unique fragrance blends in Europe alone were worth €1.7 billion

and that contributions to goods and services worth over €57 billion of retail sales were

dependent on the distinctive part played by fragrance technologies.

Working in the fragrance industry engenders a passion for the power of perfume that

few want to leave. Our members provide the invisible but vital ingredient that makes

the difference to fragranced products of all kinds. Our industry is a responsible one and

consumer safety is our priority. That is why we work hard to ensure our members are

able to understand and comply with the relevant legislation. Much of what IFRA does is

published and available for all to see, but only members receive IFRA’s global view on

interpretation of the advice. The key is not so much transparency but clarity.

As a member you would receive advance notification of changes to the guidelines.

Customers prefer to do business with IFRA UK members as it provides reassurance that

compliance will be taken care of. It’s shorthand for good governance and safety.

IFRA UK is the leading Trade Association representing the collective interests of the

Fragrance Industry in the UK. Shouldn’t you be part of it?

Code of PracticeIt is mandatory for all members to comply with the IFRA Code of Practice, a system

which ensures consistency and compliance amongst IFRA members across the world.

One of the most commonly cited advantages of the IFRA UK membership is the active

involvement that Members have in developing the IFRA guidelines.

Due to the global nature of the Fragrance Industry, IFRA UK believes it is important to

monitor worldwide legislation, ensuring that UK fragrance companies can comply and

compete.

IFRA UK subscribes to membership of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA)
