Their prize winning entry -a n execut i ve desk illustrated below- bore the nom de plume "KEG". We assume this choice may have been prompted by their great thirst for thought on their project . This was very well attended, and a good time wa s had by all. Mr. & Mrs. L. S. Lebus at Woodley Party WE were all looking forward to Dec- ember l 5th, the night of our D ance, and as expected. a good time was had by all. Unfortunately however, the extremely fo gg y wea ther was aga inst us, and made it impossible fo r the Totten- ham party to come. 1 t was ve ry dis- appointing and we certainl y missed them. The proceedings startecl al 8 p.lll. and continued with non-stop enteria inlllent u ntil 2 a.m.-in fac t we could have "danced all night ". One of the highlights of the evening was provided when two junior members of the firm surprised and delighted Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Lebus by presenting them with lightweight travelling cases. These were giv en on behalf of us all at Woodley and Harwood, who wished them " Happy Landings", as a tnkcn of our loyalty and affection. A pleasant interlude in the for lll of an extremely good cabaret, co nsis ted of Wallace, Delyse and the two Jeanett es, who dicl a vcr·y slick Apache Dance; Pcpi!a Ramirez, an exotic dancer from the East, and finally Rahnee Mo ti e who is apparently the yo ungest white fakir in the world . She performed an amazing act by lying on a bed of swords, and finished up by giving an exotic fire dance. We were assured th at her act was quite genuine, and it was simply a case or mind over matter ' The music for dancing was provided by The Clubmen and Don Turk and his Orchestra, which included such old fa vourit es as the Palais Glide and Knees Up Mother Rrown , as well as an occasional rock and roll. 2 a. Ill. came round all 100 quickly, we were all sorry to break up the part y, but are look ing f orward 10 December 1962 . FROM OVERSEAS We ar c pleased 10 ha ve wi th us Mr. Frank Thomas of Christchurch, New Zeala nd . Mr. Thom as is spending abo ut a yea r in thi s cou ntr y studying English upholstery 111c1hnds. H is ramily ha ve an upho lstery factory in Christ - church, and we hope his sta y with us wi ll be lo ou r mutual advantage. We ar c also pleased to welcome Mr. ,Johann Top J'r om Belgium, whose fa th er owns a furniture factory there. Johan is spending a few months as a student in our factory, and is also hoping to improve hi s En gl ish. INTERNATIONAL STRAND PULLING ASSOCIATION (Chest Ex panders). Mr. D. Pointing, upholsterer, who has held the Bri tish record si nce l 959 al 11 stone 3 lb., entered the Brit is h Chamrionship held at Tedding1on ! i ' Mr. Leo Martin joined the Company on January l st as Expon Manager. He brings wi th him a considerable experience of exporting, recen tl y for Ardente Ltd., a member or the E. M. I. Group, ancl before that for Bonochord Ltd. Mr . Martin, who is 37, is married and has one son. He speaks both Fr·ench a nd German Auently, a valuable asset in his efforts to extend our u·adc with the European markets. I-le has. or course, t ra velled extensively and is already actively engaged in seeking out possible outlets for H.L. furniture on the continent. We wish him every success in thi s work and a long and happy asso- ciati on with the Company . MR. B. H. FREEMAN Mr. Barry Freeman took up his duties as Office Manager, Customer Service Department on March ls t. IN our last issue we reported the successful entry by the com bined Woodley Design team in a competition sponsored

CHILDREN'S PARTY A Chr istmas Party for the children
