Spring 2013 Newsletter Welcome to IFDA New England's expanded communication program. We will be sending a series of our new email blast newsletters keeping everyone up-to-date on all New England Chapter activities, events, success stories, membership, collaboration projects, and more. These will replace the paper version of the Newsletter that has been in place for many years. These will also be connected to our efforts on Facebook. We encourage all members to submit information and stories about their business, relative to topics already listed above. In addition any personal member news will be considered for future newsletters. We would like your critique as the program continues. All stories and information should be sent to our VP of Communications, Matt Remeika, at [email protected] IFDA Works! Perhaps the best examples of the success of our chapter are projects that IFDA members work on together. Here is a kitchen project that members Marlene Ketchen of The Cabinetry in Hingham and Teresa Burnett of Willow Design in Norwell worked on together. Amazing before and after! If you have a project that you would like featured in the newsletter please submit to Matt Remeika at [email protected]

IFDA Works!

Perhaps the best examples of the success of our chapter are projects that IFDA members work on

together. Here is a kitchen project that members Marlene Ketchen of The Cabinetry in Hingham and

Teresa Burnett of Willow Design in Norwell worked on together. Amazing before and after!

If you have a project that you would like featured in the newsletter please submit to Matt Remeika at

FUN FACT: Did you know that IFDA, formed in 1947, was

originally termed the “National Home Fashions League” and it wasn’t until 1986 that

men were allowed to join?

Event Roundup

Holiday Dinner Party: Always a favorite event of the year, the annual IFDA holiday party was

held during December at the Castle at Boston University. Great fun and food was had in an amazing and

elegant setting. Chapter awards were handed out as well to members that had gone above and beyond

in 2012 and everyone looked forward to a prosperous and successful 2013!

Wine Tasting: As a kickoff to 2013 another captivating social event was held at Poggenpohl in

Boston. Rosemary Porto was our gracious host and Jo Ann Ross was our tour guide around the world

through some deliciuos and unique wines! This was also a true celebration as Poggenpohl has signed on

as a GOLD SPONSOR!

Adding Value: Our second event of the year was held at Wolfers Lighting in Allston and featured a

diverse panel from the design community. Architect Michael Kim, S+H Construction project manager

Sarah Lawson, and Wells and Fox interior designer and architect Heather Wells shared great thoughts on

what goes into a great design and how that design impacts our lives. Molly Campbell of Design New

England moderated the discussion.

IFDA Educates!

IFDA joined ASID at the Boston Design Center for IDCD Career Day. This was a great opportunity for

students to hear directly from industry professionals and organizations about the design trade and get

their questions answered about what benefits an organization like IFDA can yield.

Welcome to New Members!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new members this year! At the next event make

sure to track a new member down and say hi!
