USE: SOF-W-IFAK is an operationally enhanced IFAK by design, providing maximum flexibility of use through modularity and organization. Rapid reconfiguration of the IFAK supports any mission requirement. In static or quick in/out operations, the Ambidextrous Medical-Utility Leg Panel provides a stable platform along with additional storage; in mounted/dismounted operations, the IFAK and Tourniquet Pouch can be rapidly sepa-rated from the leg panel allowing reconfiguration on any MOLLE/PALS load bearing platform. A systems approach to design marries the kit to its big brother, the Break-Away Litter Carrier, a sub-component to the Combat CASEVAC Kit, SOF Mobility currently in use throughout ARSOF.

STATEMENT OF NEED: Combat Casualties are a “Reality of War”. Approximately 15% of all combat casualties that survive initial wounding die before reaching definitive care from causes that are potentially correctable. This percentage can be reduced through dynamic First Responder Self/Buddy-Aid training emphasizing TCCC combined with equipping each SOF WARFIGHTER with a “comprehensive” IFAK for use at the point of wounding.
