If you’re aged between 11 and 19 come along to our workshops, experience something new and be inspired by the ever-growing world of arts and culture. Great Yarmouth is booming with talent and opportunities for young people to grow their creativity. This year we’re excited to welcome musicians Joanna, COLL (Sundown Festival and Latitude) and Finn Doherty (Sundown Festival and Latitude), who will perform for us on Wednesday 3–6PM at Drill House. COLL and Finn will also be hosting a music production workshop on Thursday at Harbour Radio.Workshops are free and places are limited, so please arrive at St Georges Cafe for 11am to avoid disappointment. When you sign up you will be given a wristband to allow you to attend the workshops.

Smoothie bikes are a wacky invention. They are stationary bikes fitted with special blenders that spin as you pedal, mixing up delicious fruit smoothies in an instant. You simply fill the blender with fruit and juices, pedal away for a minute or two, and you have yourself a healthy pedal-powered fruit smoothie.

Come along to East Norfolk Sixth Form College’s Art workshop with Sarah and Fennella where you will be able to design and make your own geometric jewellery with laser cut acrylic. There will also be an opportunity to incorporate stitching!

REPEAT PATTERNWORKSHOP

12 – 2PM

Create a design using different drawing tools into a square of foam material, ink up, print and repeat to produce a repeat pattern on paper that you can take away. This technique is similar to poly-block printing and can be used in areas such as Art, Graphic Design and Textiles.

DUMISANI AFRICAN DRUMMING WORKSHOP

A fun and lively workshop, you will learn how to make different sounds on the drums, play some traditional African rhythms, and enjoy the satisfaction of making music together with others. Suitable for complete beginners or those who have played before. Drums provided, but if you have a jembe, bring it along.

This ‘Time to Write’ workshop will give you energising ideas to help kick-start your writing whether you’re a story teller, poet, songwriter, or just starting out. You will be guided through a series of experimental creative writing prompts to help you get words on the page and find your original voice. Just bring your imagination!

If you enjoyed COLL and Finn‘s performance on Wednesday, come along to their workshop on Music Production at Harbour Radio. COLL and Finn recently performed at Latitude and Sundown festivals. COLL offers a laid-back flow and inventive wordplay accompanied by hard hitting motivational instrumentals. Finn Doherty combines Hip-Hop with landfill indie rock and acoustic soul, assembled with a DIY approach.

Hosted by Original Projects. Work together to create a building from lengths of wood connected with wooden pegs. Explore space, construction, team working and design.

FILM MAKING WORKSHOP

You will create and film a short emotive 1–2 character scene and edit in camera to create your final film. You will learn the art of drama film making using the camera to create emotion, set the scene and choose your story.

Bring a USB drive to download your film.

Create fake cuts with use of liquid latex*. You can also make an eyeball to take home.

Whether you’re interested in writing, drawing, film making or computer graphics – Comics and Manga are a great way to experiment with all of them on your own or in collaboration with others. Led by professional comic creator Stuart Paterson.

Join Clare from Wayside Pottery in a creative clay workshop to learn the art of pottery. Make a pot on the potter’s wheel and learn hand-building techniques.

An additional hour at the end of the 2nd workshop for participants to complete any unfinished pieces made during either session.

Based on the music of the British band, Madness, Our House invites the audience into the lives of London Lad, Joey and the girl of his dreams, Sarah. The pair’s journey gets off to a rocky start with the police turning up on their first date. Joey faces a decision; does he run or face his punishment? It’s at this point that the musical splits into the two lives of Joey, Joey who follows the good path and Joey who follows a life of crime. These two paths are observed by Joey’s deceased father, who spent his own life ignoring his family to focus on criminal behaviour. Which path will Joey assign himself to on that first date?

St George’s Theatre is located a short walk from MAP, if you were facing the MAP building turn left and walk 100 metres. The threatre is just on the other side of the cross roads.

Exit the cafe via the main doors, face left and cross over the road so the ‘Yarmouth Way Supermarket’ is on your right hand side, walk for 200 metres. The library is on your left hand side next to the Salvation Army building.

MAP is located a short walk from St. George’s Theatre, if you were facing the main doors of the theatre, turn left and walk to the right of the Christchurch. MAP is the building with the double set of green doors on your left.

TIME AND TIDE Blackfriars’ Road, Great Yarmouth NR30 3BX

Exit the cafe via the Plaza doors and follow the road to the left. Walk 400 metres to the Greek Orthodox Church called ‘Saint Spyridon’ on your left. Turn left and walk to the cross roads. Turn right on to Blackfriars’ Road and walk 200 metres. Time & Tide is on the left, opposite a play park.

The Tolhouse is located to the left of the Great Yarmouth Library (2).

Harbour Radio is on the same road as the theatre. Exit the Cafe via the Plaza doors and follow the road to the right. The building is less than 100 metres walk, located on the other side of the road.

The Drill House is located a short walk from St. George’s Cafe. Exit the cafe through the Plaza doors and follow the road to the left. After 200 metres, turn left on to York Road. The building is a short walk on your left.

CREATIVE SPACES AT KING STREET169 King Street (old mercury building) NR30 2PA

Located on the same road as the Theatre, towards the Town Centre. Exit the Cafe via the main doors and turn left to face ‘Dominoes’. Walk past Dominoes, on your left. 200 metres, on the same side, you will see the Creative Spaces building.

M&S BUILDING13 King St, Great Yarmouth NR30 2BB

The M&S Building is located in the Town Centre. Follow directions to Creative Spaces (8) from the cafe and continue walk towards the town centre. The M&S Building is located opposite the River Island store.
