Dependent vs. independent variables
• In any rate or ratio there are two things being compared
• One of their values depends on the others value
• Examples
• The number of items you buy depends on the price
• Your paycheck depends on the number of hours you works

• Describe which of these are dependent and which are independent
• Time running and distance ran
• Gas in car and distance possible
• Money spent and songs purchased
