8nother way to 'uy time is to pretend you didnt understand the %uestionand ask the eaminer to rephrase it$ /hile the eaminer is doing this youcan think a'out what you want to say$ This wont lower your grade, unless

you do it repeatedly in which case its going to start to lower your score forvoca'ulary$ (ou could say something like:

+eve#op %ays o, using comp#e/ sentences

=omple sentences are sentences that include an independent anddependent clause$ Two ecellent ways to form these are to use conditionalsphrasesQ and relative clauses who, which, that, whereQ$ To read a'out therules and do some %uiRRes go here:

http:55www$ieltsanswers$com5IELTS*rammar$html

=onditional sentences

8 conditional sentence is a comple sentence structure used to talk a'outsomething that occurs only if something else happens$ The condition may 'esomething real or imagined, and the result could 'e a de2nite result, or 1ust apossi'le result$ =onditionals are a useful way of forming comple sentences, which can 'oost your grammar score$ 8nother reason why I teach candidatesto use them is 'ecause they can 'e easily noticed 'y an eaminer, due tothe word i& $ If sends a signal to the eaminer that a conditional is 'eing used$

There are t%o c#auses to a conditiona# sentence)

Fne part is the i,  clause$ This is the event that needs to occur$ It is adependent clause 'ecause it is not a complete sentence and is dependent onthe other part of the sentence$

The second part is the resu#t or main clause, or what happens when theevent in thei,  clause occurs$ The result clause is an independent clause

'ecause it can stand on its own as a sentence$ The dependent andindependent clauses can 'e spoken in any order, as shown 'elow:

)&  ) ha!e holidays, ) go to Australia$ 8 comma as needed when the dependentclause comes 2rstQ

) go to Australia i&  ) ha!e holidays$ <o commaQ
