CAPACIT 2019Reactive Power & Beyond
Backgroundapacitor industry has been leading Cenergy efciency initiatives while
adapting to the changing environment. CAPACIT, held once in four years by IEEMA, provides a platform to discuss the latest developments in capacitor technology and futur ist ic trends. This internat ional conference provides a common and a unique platform to all the stake holders such as manufacturers, users of capacitors and power conditioning devices, regulators, research & development organizations, experts from Industries, utilities, testing & standardization organizations, electrical consultants, academicians and students. The event is marked by 2 days of knowledge sharing, intense deliberations amongst various stakeholders on present status and emerging trends.
Though conventionally, capacitor industry has been dominated by AC power capacitors for reactive power compensation, emerging trends are changing the landscape of the Industry leading to design and application of various types of capacitors such as DC capacitors, AC lter capacitors, energy storage capacitors for a multitude of app l i ca t ions and a l so chang ing the characteristics of the Industry from a supplier of components to complete solutions. Proliferation of non-linear loads and stringent norms for harmonic distortion is driving the demand for harmonic lter capacitor and harmonic ltering solutions
Increasing growth of HVDC transmission technology and advanced SVC is expected to drive the future need for capacitors. Growth in renewable energy resources, specically wind, solar and need for large scale grid integration of renewable energy resources / micro grids and distributed generation is expected to be a potential target area for
capacitors as well as power conditioning solutions.
Electric mobility, battery energy storage system coupled with high speed electrical traction is another emerging segment that is likely to be a growth driver for capacitors and power quality solutions.
In addition to above, evolving grid codes is expected to drive the demand for power quality solutions and its various applications.
The industry delivers multiple products such as
Ÿ Shunt power capacitors / Banks / Panels;Ÿ Series capacitors;Ÿ Surge capacitors / special application
capacitors;Ÿ Energy storage capacitors;Ÿ Capacitors for appliances;Ÿ Active and passive harmonic lters; Ÿ Static VAR compensators;
for multiple applications such as reactive power compensation, harmonic ltering, unbalance correction, voltage regulation, transient suppression, energy storage etc.
India's rapid electrication in the recent years and changes in load characteristics has led to new application needs for power conditioning. The Industry is also evolving due to emerging regulatory framework / product standards, supported by rapid changes in product and manufacturing technology. This transformation along with the advent of IOT is opening up new and innovative business models to enhance customer benets through better asset utilisation.
IEEMA Capacitor division has pleasure in announcing the th9 international conference on capacitors, “CAPACIT 2019’’ on
th th14 & 15 February 2019 at hotel Lalit, New Delhi
Some of the topics proposed to be covered during two days include:
Ÿ Advancements in material and manufacturing technologies;
Ÿ Emerging trends in design of capacitors;
Ÿ Selection and application of capacitors (focus on emerging applications) such as electric mobility (EV / Traction), solar inverters, wind converters
Ÿ Power quality solutions / power conditioning
Ÿ New trends in testing, reliability analysis and standardization
Ÿ Role of regulator in power quality
Ÿ Harmonics: aspects, impact and mitigation techniques
Ÿ DC / power electronic capacitors
Ÿ Case studies on power conditioning, application of capacitors;
Ÿ Capacitor accessories (such as reactors, switches, protective devices)
Ÿ IOT, Remote monitoring
Topics of Papers
The papers to be presented in the Conference should not have been presented in any other conference or published in any journal in India. The authors need to give declaration to this effect. The authors / co-authors are required to present the papers at the Conference. The authors/co-authors, other than the presenting author.
CAPACIT 2019 will give an opportunity to participants and various stakeholders to share their technological expertise. The conference will provide detailed insights on key system components and latest technological trends, keeping in mind an end to end solution scenario in the smart world.
