align their curriculum to meet the demands of the
industry.
Significant momentum has been generated by various
Student Branches (SB). Various SBs conducted
events such as Design Thinking Workshop at MIT
WPU, IOT for Affordable Agriculture at AISSMS, visit
to Pabal Vigyan Ashram and Hackathon in partner-
ship with Austin city at PICT. I happened to witness
some of these events and was very much impressed
by the work being done by IEEE volunteers and stu-
dent community at large. We need to sustain this
momentum through committed volunteering efforts.
Activities of Special Interest Group for Affordable
Agriculture are shaping up well and we have recently
signed MOUs with six Engineering Colleges for col-
laboration. IEEE student members can explore oppor-
tunities for taking up technology projects in agriculture
domain.
Last but not the least, I would like to draw your atten-
tion to IEEE Pune Section Awards for which you
need to apply before 30th October. The winners will
be announced in during our Annual General Meeting
in December.
Best regards,
Dinanath Kholkar Chair, IEEE Pune Section

Editor’s Note Dear Friends, Greetings from IEEE Pune Section!!! "Growth is the only evidence of life." - John Henry Newman.
Rightly Said !!! If we're not growing, we're like a dying tree; eventually the winds of
change will snap off our rotting trunks and blow us over. At IEEE Pune section, we
continuously strive to ensure that we are growing. With this preamble, I take this op-
portunity to present IEEE Pune Section Newsletter Vol-7, Issue-3 for the 3rd quarter of 2018, which was fully
packed with activities. The month of July was mainly dedicated in the planning strategies to strengthen our ex-
isting student branches and encouraging others to establish one. The month of August was devoted to various
student oriented activities organized at our existing student branches, with an objective to involve maximum
number of students and professionals in Pune Section’s activity. The idea is to pass on maximum benefit to the
member community and keep them abreast with technology. Hence, all our activities and endeavors are aligned
towards the same.

Pabal Vigyan Ashram is an organization which focus
on imparting STEM education, project based learn-
ing, socially useful projects, rural technologies and
entrepreneurship development. Their entire philoso-
phy is based on "Learning while Doing" and "Every
Problem is an Opportunity". They offer programs
such as "Diploma in Basic Rural Technology",
"Introduction to Basic technology" and
"Entrepreneurship Accelerator". There are many
other programs offered by them in the technology
space.
All their labs are frugal and interdisciplinary. Their
approach resonates with vision and mission of SIG
