I*EARN(the International Education and Resource Network) is a global community of students and teachers committed to using telecommunications to make a meaningful difference in the world as part of the educational process.

The heart of I*EARN is for students and teachers to collaborate on projects. Teachers work together to support one another. Everyone is devoted to

The AJET project in Taiwan has tried very hard at the various empirical levels of language teaching to promote the incorporation of the Internet into the curriculum. We aim ourselves at creating a cyber environment for learners here in Taiwan. It is meant to─Use the hardware/system─Create software─Reveal "liveware"-- what is required as a "whole person"

Spanning Three Centuries(1)

People who are more than 100 years old on 1 January 2000 will have been born in the 1800's. Therefore their lives will have spanned three centuries.

In this project youth across the world will be encouraged to locate people in this category and document their story.

Purposes--To encourage an appreciation of the events of

history across the world as seen by ordinary people.

--To attempt to learn from the experience of others, pass the lessons to all who will read and hope to avoid the errors of the past.

Time Line Tasks

February,2000 --Receive training in the TC course in NSYSU cyber university.

--Collect the text story of each person, utilizing technological device to record sound, photos and video clips as well as copies of significant mementos.

--The final collection of worldwide impressions of history in digital form to be available to scholars

Taiwan Cyber Fair 2000(1)

The International Schools Cyber Fair demonstrates how schools can share the knowledge and skills of their teachers and

students on a world-wide basis.

Taiwan Cyber Fair 2000(2)

Participating schools conduct a research project through cooperation, mutual discovery and content creation and which involves community resources.

They publish the results of their project on the Internet's World Wide Web.

We demonstrate that A Chinese mirror site can substantially promote the publicity in Taiwan community.

Before we created its Chinese version mirror site, the Taiwan Schools CyberFair, only 13 Taiwan's entries participated in the 1999 International Schools CyberFair competition. Due to the creation of the Taiwan Schools CyberFair in December 1999, the Taiwan's entries have grown to 72 this year.A tremendous growth.

Purposes--To provide a distributed collaborative

learning environment that could enliven and enrich the learning process and outcome.

--To fertilize the appreciation and

understanding of the difference in culture

around the world.

On December 21st, the biggest earthquake of the century hit the central Taiwan. The Chi Chi Earthquake,named after the Epic Center, Chi Chi Town, measured 7.3 on the Richter Scale.So far the earthquake has caused 2296 deaths,8729 injuries and 37 missing.
