Dear Parents and carers,
We have been very blessed with this warmer weather, but as
we move further into Autumn the large changes in
temperature will become more apparent. Please provide
your child with a change of clothing including a jumper t o
keep them comfortable and prepared for whatever the
weather holds.
HARMONY WEEK FUNDRAISER
On Wednesday the 20th of March, the Stage 6 students will
be organising a sausage sizzle lunch with funds going to assist
with Stage 6 end of year events.
HARMONY DAY
Our next assembly on Friday the 22nd of March is an Open
Day from 9:45am until 1pm. We encourage all parents ,
grandparents and carers to come along and join in our
Harmony Day events. Please dress your child and / or
yourself in cultural heritage clothing and be willing to get
your hands dirty working through varied activities with the
classes.
Therapists in School
Our classes are very accommodating of therapists entering
the school. However, the number of students multiplied by
two or three therapists each wanting to attend and work
with students is very demanding. All therapists are to be
working collaboratively with teachers and delivering support
to the lessons that are going on at that time. Therefore
speech therapy and communication activities should be
carried out in the morning and middle sessions and physical
therapy programs should be supported in the middle or
afternoon sessions. At any time therapy is too disruptive to
the class ,it may need to be renegotiated or suspended.
BUCKY NEWS
Our first Bucky winners for 2019, for being
Kind and keeping their hands and feet to
themselves are Madeline and Grant. Our
class trophy was awarded to High School 3.
Congratulations everyone, over the
next two weeks students will be Peaceful and
using a quiet voice. Please encourage your
child to work on inside and outside voices
across all settings.
P & C News
The Annual General Meeting is on at 9:45am
tomorrow followed by a normal P & C meeting. We are
always looking to have more people join us on the P & C and
help support the wonderful work they do to promote Para
Meadows School.
5c Fundraiser
Over the course of 2018, we asked families to collect and
save all 5cent pieces before sending them in to school. This
fundraiser collected $732.75 for the school. There were
many contributors, but a few standouts. Well done Saphira
and family $140.85; Manny and family $62.15 and Michael
and family $56.75. We are encouraging families to try and
beat our previous efforts.
Whopping Cough
Please keep an eye on all students over the coming weeks as
there have been a few cases in the Illawarra, (not here) but
this is highly contagious and problematic to some of our
more vulnerable student with health conditions.
Best Regards for the upcoming fortnight,
Gill Hendry.

Week 7 Term 1 12/3/2019
iDo expo
Thank you to the parents and carers that came along to the Expo last Thursday at the Fraternity Club. It was a great opportunity to chat
with representatives from all aspects of the disability field.
Thank you also to Tracy Cardile for assisting on the Para Meadows stall. We chatted to many people and showcased our school during
the day.
The Stage 6 students made chutney, magnets and grew plants in decorated pots. We also sold cards decorated with our student’s art
work. There are still some items for sale in the office foyer for those people that would like to purchase a home made gift.
We were also grateful for the donation on
the day from STARFISH Education Centre in
Kiama of a doll, I’m sure many of our
students will enjoy playing with her. She will
be available for borrowing from the library.
They have many wonderful resources for
students with sensory needs, well worth a
visit if in Kiama.
The upcoming SLES Tour is on Monday 25th March. Please see attached flyer.
I will be driving the school bus to take parents to the sites. We will leave at 9:10 am from the school. Please contact Lisa or leave a
message at the office if you would like to come on the bus. I have limited seating, so let me know ASAP to ensure that you don’t miss
out on a bus seat.
Regards, Lisa Anderson
