Getting to Kansai region

To get to Kansai region, taking a flight to Osaka's Kansai Airport is usually the best option.

Or if you are getting to Kansai region from Tokyo, you could either:

- Take a domestic flight from Tokyo's Narita or aneda Airport to Osaka's Kansai Airport.

- Take a !hr "ourney onboard the #hinkansen $bullet train% $&osts !,()*yen for a +ay from Tokyo

to #hin-Osaka station%

- Take a bus.

Public Transport from Kansai Airport

From Kansai Airport, you could take either 1 of these methods to reach Osaka downtown- !" Kansai Airport "apid #er$ice train $costs *yen, takes *mins to reach Osaka station%.

This train also stops at other popular stations like inkuto+n, Tenno"i, #hin/mamiya, 0entencho.

#ince there is no reser1ed seat carriage for this train, so seats are on a first-come-first-ser1ed basis

and you might ha1e to stand throughout the "ourney. Not too sure +hether there's toilet onboard this

Kansai region is highlighted in red.

This td 2Bp train stops at only Tenno"i, #hin-Osaka $not Osaka station%, and Kyoto station. /t is also

the only train +hich goes direct from Kansai airport all the +ay to Kyoto.

There are areas in each cabin for you to place your luggage and there are toilets onboard this train.

5or those +ith reser1ed seat tickets, you +ill ha1e your seat number printed on your ticket and you

+ill ha1e a confirmed seat throughout your "ourney.Special package: 1 way or 2 way Haruka Express + ICOCA car package

You can use this pass to go up to Himeji via local and rapid trains from Osaka/Kyoto. But you

cannot use this to take Shinkansen nor Ltd !p trains. " e!ception is that you can use this railpass

to take the Haruka !p train.

" 'ay journey on(oard a regular )* rapid train from Osaka station to Himeji station 'ill normally

cost "+,-yen.

- or 8 ays JR Sanyo Area /ass *2yen or 5yen,

#his is a more e!pensive railpass 'ith a 'ider coverage. You can use this railpass take the

Shinkansen from ShinOsaka to not only Himeji and Okayama (ut also to Hiroshima and up to

Hakata station in 0ukuoka on Kyushu.

" 'ay journey on(oard Shinkansen from ShinOsaka station to Hakata station in 0ukuoka 'ill cost

"+-1-yen $unreserved seat%.

01-21 ays !ationwie Japan Rail /ass $314--yen to ,55--yen%

#his is my a(solute favourite pass although it is the most e!pensive railpass.

#his is (ecause you can use this pass to travel all across )apan on )* train lines. #his includes

Shinkansen and Ltd !p trains too. You could use this railpass to travel from Hokkaido in the north

all the 'ay to Kyushu in the south.

#his particular railpass can only (e purchased from O6#S78 of )apan. You 'ill have to (ring the

voucher 'hich you (ought to " of the )* offices in )apan to e!change for the actual railpass.

7f you are planning to make a return journey (et'een Osaka/Kyoto and #okyo 'ithin 5 days then

the 5days version of this railpass is recommended. Because a " 'ay Shinkansen ride from Shin

Osaka to #okyo 'ould cost "+-,-yen $reserved seat%. #herefore a 3 'ay journey $eg. ShinOsaka

to #okyo then a fe' days later #okyo (ack to ShinOsaka% 'ould cost 31"--yen if you are not

using any railpass. On top of that you could also use this pass for the airport e!press trains like

Haruka !press $for access to Osaka9s Kansai :irport% and ;arita !press $for access to #okyo9s

After I'm done exploring the 3 themed trains at Wakayama, I took a Limited Express train (which

was covered y the ! day "# $ansai Area Wide %ass& from Wakayama station to $yoto station

rom $yoto station, it was ) short train rides (ao*t +mins total& to get to -ion./hi0io station where

my accommodations for the next 3 nights is located at

I stayed at a old restored 1achiya (traditional wooden townho*se& called #ak*2a -*estho*se,

located +min away from -ion./hi0io station's exit It cost me 3yen for a single room (shared

toilet4athroom& 5his g*estho*se have dormitory for females as well as rooms for ) pax

5he place is extremely 6*iet, so 6*iet at night that I can hear my neigho*r in next.door room

pl*gging in her 758 phone to charge (the eep so*nd& I was also ale to decipher which co*ntries

the g*ests in the vario*s rooms s*rro*nding mine are fromased on their conversations I am ale

to hear from my room

5herefore, so*nd proofing is extremely ad, *t it wasn't too ig of a concern for me, since it's a

good experience for me to e ale to stay at a 1achiya at -ion area in $yoto

5he wooden panels on the floor creaks whenever yo* walk on it, *t I consider it part of the charm

of the place

Since I have some time to kill before the next train arrives at Kishi station, so I took a short walk

around the station, hoping to find food. But I failed.

Arrived back at Kishi station, and found Tamachan finall! woke up.

Tamachan is also sleeping. "hat#s up with these $at Stationmasters who kept sleeping on the %ob& '(
