DESCRIPTION
IDAHO takes you on a painted trip through my part of Idaho using fine art to tell the story. it was painted in a traditional Chinese style on rice paper. the entire roll was unrolled and a continuous story over 30' long painted on it. horizontal hand scrolls were used in ancient Asian art to record events and tell stories. they are held in the hands and unrolled to be read as a book rather than hung on walls for viewing. this method went by the wayside as media forms improved. artists were not needed to record events. cameras took over. and then the internet. IDAHO must still be in print form so viewers can enjoy but you will get an idea pof "reading a painting" , a wordless story painted as fine art...come. explore.

IDAHO scroll
debbi saccomanno chanThis is a horizontal scroll meant to be unrolled and read as a book rather than hung on a wall for viewing. it is also a wordless story about the idaho landscape and life wthin that landscape. it is painted in a traditional chinese style on rice paper. the exact length is unknown but over 30’ and done as a continuous painting. i live and have my home and studio in the wilds of idaho and i often see the fauna and flora that appear in this painting on my own farm.
