Founded in 1965, NORD is now, with 36 assembly shops in over 36 countries, one of the international leaders in the drive engineering trade. The head of-fice is in Bargteheide near Hamburg. A staff of over 3.200 in Germany and abroad is working to make the success of our company last, a success which is based on strong market and customer orientation, Innovative technical achievements, and supreme quality. Among our corporate targets maximizing the customer‘s benefit takes the highest priority.

NORD designs and produces mechanical and elect-ronic drive components such as reducers and geared motors, frequency inverters, servo controllers and peripheral equipment of a superior quality and tech-nological standard. Users are provided with integral system solutions and assisted with drive design and system start up wherever they may be in the world. NORD stands by with expert advice, prompt delivery, and full service.

As innovation is not an end in itself, we analyze de-mand and market trends and the prospective benefit for the user before we try something new. Consistent-ly following this strategy has been crucial in our beco-

ming one of the world‘s technological leaders where drive engineering is concerned. In our Bargteheide centre for technological research, a team of excel-lent engineers is working on developing new and enhancing existing products and systems, involving the findings obtained through our participation in in-ternational research projects and even suggestions made by our customers. A Iot of the engineering work has turned out to be worth patenting and became a new standard with which competitive products were compared.

EFFICIENTNORD GEAR UNITSNORD UNICASE In the 1980s NORD engineers developed the most important innovation in gear unit construction: the UNICASE concept, which unites all gear unit elements in a sing-le closed housing.

The NORD UNICASE concept soon became established on the market and is now standard. NORD pro-duces all of its helical, parallel, bevel and worm gear units as UNICASE gear units.

NORD Industrial Gear Units

NORD industrial gear units have been developed according to the tried-and-tested UNICASE housing principle. The UNICASE is a one-piece housing, into which all the bearings are integrated. The finishing of this UNICASE is carried out with in unique jig, on state-of -the-art CNC machines. The UNICASE con-cept features highest levels of precision, rigidity and strength. There are no dividing seams between the drive and the gear unit housing which are subjected to transverse forces or torque. The UNICASE principle allows the shaft axes to be staggered, resulting in a more compact design which allows the use of larger roller bearings to guarantee a long operating life.
