Why Cooperate Internationally on ICT

• ICT accounts for ~30% of total R&D effort worldwide

• Growing need for international cooperation to address complex scientific challenges and share high-cost projects or research infrastructures

• ASEAN and EU have similar S&T policies; we need to tackle jointly such global issues as climate change and need to work together on sustainable development
